Absolutely love this song and video. Wish it would've charted higher for the guys. It is a very "Journey-sounding" song.

My favorite song off of ROR. Funny, though, isn't that the question we have all been asking about Journey for years? Why can't this night go on forever? I suppose that nothing is forever.

WCTNGOF is the most Journey sounding song on ROR. I attribute that mostly to Steve Smith's signature drumming.

Great song. It was both my prom song and eventually was my wedding song.

I'll be honest, I prefer this song to "Open Arms" and "Faithfully". It's likely because both of those songs have been played so much on the radio and on television that they've become generic. It's one of my favorite Journey ballads.

Thanks very much!

A cool story, don't know if I've shared this or not. Jonathan was extremely excited that we performed WCTNGOF in our set when he and Neal came to Charlotte. The night we performed for Irving et al and the rest of the band's family and friends, we only did about 8 songs or so, and basically just wanted to show off the lineup for the group that was there. I think we may have closed with "Separate Ways," and we finished that and were about to shake hands, etc. Jonathan said to Neal, "Let's do one more, let's do WCTNGOF," and Neal kind of blew it off, saying, "eh, we hadn't practiced that one, yada yada yada," so Jonathan turned to me and said, "let's do it, just you and me..." So I brought the mic over next to the piano, and Jonathan and I performed that song with just me and him on acoustic piano. It was a sublime experience, and the last Journey song I would perform with the band (not counting the demos we did for the next couple of days). Tim Jarstadt (accountant) had tears in his eyes and told Sabrina "I've been waiting 20 years to hear that," and Liz Cain came up afterwards and gave me a hug, and told me it was a "spiritual experience." She was probably exaggerating, but still, it was a great way to end the night.

That's an awesome story. Wish I could have seen it. Sounds like you at least have quite a few memories from your time spent with the Journey guys.

As good as that YouTube video is, it doesn't do Jeremey justice on that song. He's incredible live.

Wow, that's amazing Jeremey. So you were going to be touring with Journey? what happend man, just couldn't go through with it or, something more personal you can't talk about. Still that's a kickass, one in a lifetime story.

Does anyone know if SP sang this song in any of the ROR concerts? I don't think so. It would be a very hard song to sing live (the heart-wrenching soaring vocals). Deen did a credible job on a boot I saw/heard.

To me, though, this is SP's signature song. No one can do it like him. It's almost as if he's saying good-bye to the fans--the last song of his last Journey album. Never mind TBF; it was an anomaly, pushed and made happen by John Kalodner and Sony.

I agree. There was so much emotion that came through in the vocals - and it was like a sad, heartbroken emotion instead of the usual upbeat feel. It almost seems haunting that this was the last song of the last Journey album that Steve really wanted to be a part of.

:o

Lar, I honestly took no pics with the band and absolutely did no recording...I was told I'd be back there within weeks to continue working on new material, so I didn't want to seem like a tew-rist.
