Have you ever given a cat a bath?...I have....always use an enclosed shower stall....they would tear up a shower curtain and get right out. They meow like crazy! haha!...... it's only water..their not being harmed. They just dont like it. Cats do need a bath from time to time, ya know?

I worked at an animal shelter for 5 years and I can guarantee you I have given many a cat a successful bath and you don't have to be cruel to do it, there are ways. You get a grip! Stop giving everyone unsolicited advice too. Believe it or not you don't have the market cornered on common sense.

Sorry Shoot, but I don't like that. I have two cats, and I give them baths in either the tub or the sink. And no, they don't claw me or my daughter.........

Well, while the video looks pretty funny, I would never do that to my cat. (daughters cat) I'd be skinned alive if I did. I've tried a couple of times, and have never been able to successfully give a cat a bath. Wound up bleeding both times. Cats just hate water I guess.

Okay, if you ever need to give a cat a bath...there a few ways to do it. One is to get an old window screen and place the cat on it IN the bath tub, that way the cat has something to hold on to while you are bathing them. Another way is to place the cat in a wire dog crate and bath them with warm water that way so they are confined, you don't have to drown them. ( I know you didn't make that video Shoot em' up) but to say it is funny is very disheartening.

Yeah, I know, my wife says the same, I just don't put the same value on animals as others do. That's just me though. I don't mistreat animals, but I also don't have as much compassion for them as some.

Tips for bathing a cat is not unsolicited advice, simply giving some information about a subject=there is a difference.

Sometimes, but not always, Shoot, you have to start them when they are kittens to get them used to having a bath. :D

Thanks Clasicrockldy, I've tried a couple of times. Won't do it again. I would need a blood donor.

I had no intention of starting a thread that would become heated, and it really didn't. You folks have discussed this topic like true MR regulars. No shouting or name calling, even when it could have gone that way. I'm sure Andrew and T-Bone would be proud. I know I am.

Anyone watch Combat Hospital on CNN?....hey....I'm an animal lover...am outspoken on animal rights and support efforts on animals behaves....and the environment......have a cat myself..do not, by any means endorse or support the idea of cruelty to animals.....thats not how I see this. ..... I just laughed at the cat jumping around as a release from the news of the day. There were 20 people killed by a tornado in my state while sleeping in their beds.....many, many others that have lost their homes.....huge swath of devastation. There were 123 people killed in Bagdad while going about their business.. shopping in a market.....blown to bits...many others injured. Now a story about 31 trapped miners. .....among many other stories and reports of a meriad of problems, catastrophies, and killings going on. Did you see the report on global warming yesterday?...It's real! .....I went kayaking on the river today as I usually do and paddled under several street bridges.....where I see homeless people sleeping in the mud on the banks......and I see the trash and waste that is carelessly thrown in the water...I collect what I can in my boat and dispose of it......took a 6 pack ring off a bird. I see the oil from motorized boats floating on top of the water and the scars that the manatees have on them from boat propellers. I could go on and on .....but just saying...a cat getting a little freaked out from a bath...is not at the top of my priority list.

I saw it as cruel..... the fact that the "filmer" put it up for all to see in the first place is the actual "cruel" act.

Its only one step away from the beheading videos that are on the web... Steve Berg etc etc. The world has become a more callous place... many more people now see this thing as kinda "harmless" due to them becoming insensitive coz of bombardment with similar images everywhere from newspapers to vid games. I really do think that a lot of people genuinely see no prob in this kind of image... and that says it all really.

Cats are always up for the most abuse...as they are often timid, and dont fight back... you wouldnt see people doing this to a Rottweiler...would you... it would bite their frikkin head off.... now that would be funny !!! (irony)

It is a cruel thing to do to a cat. Why would you need to bathe a cat unles it got sprayed by a skunk or fell in a dumpster?
