I've found this on a UK shopping site that caters for rock music (www.cdxpress.co.uk) claiming that the version they are selling is region free; i.e. it can be played anywhere in the world.

However whenever I've seen it elsewhere (Amazon etc) it has always stated that the 2001 DVD was Region 1 only (US and Canada) and as that would mean getting a region free DVD player (which are scarce over here) so up til now, I didn't think I could buy it.

Has it since been re-released in region free format or are they talking bullshit as obviously I ain't wanting to fork out £15.99 (bout $26) for a DVD that won't work on my DVD player once I get it.

I believe that is what is currently powering my computer and the light I have on in the room.

And BTW; It's because of us (or more specifically Scots  ) 'euros' as you like to call us Deano that you have your TV and penicillin to get rid of anything you might pick up. Oh yeah and your telephone.

The only things America has ever provided the rest of the world is the car and some work for our armed forces

Thanks to Andrew anyway for the reply; I'll buy it and hopefully it is a region-free version or else I'll be reporting their asses to Trading Standards for false advertising :D

Even Journey albums are released in Europe before the States these days.

Seriously.

There's some good things about the U.S., but it's one of the worst places to live as a music fan. Even someone like Springsteen, who's regarded as one of the quintessential American musicians of the last 40 years, does a lot better in Europe nowadays than in the U.S. American fans will go see him play his old songs with the E-Street band, but his last two tours which were an intentional departure from that (a solo tour and the Seeger Sessions band tour) sold out most shows in Europe while doing far less business in the States.

Nevermind that the melodic rock scene in the States is nearly non-existent, unless you're listening to Puddle of NickelCreed. It's pretty sad, really.
