I Just Have to Know

We all do it. Yes we do. Do not deny it.

We all sing in our cars, some in the shower and some while cleaning the house.

We all(guys anyway), play air guitar, everytime a bitchin' solo comes on. Hell, I sometimes will play air rythm guitar on Stone in Love...My Friga moment.

Hell, I bet while driving down the freeway, turnpikes for you eastern choads, that the dashboard becomes a "Makeshift grey, brown or tan whale." You can't tell me when the LTS solo duel between Friga and Schonny takes place, you don't go from the Gibson to the Whale instantaneously? I do it. Lula hates it. "It's so dumb Dean." Really now....

Ok, my question is this. Does anyone ever "air bass?" I have took up this retarded looking practice after hearing some monster bass lines on DSB live. Lula thinks I have lost my marbles...all of them.

Does anyone play chameleon rock star? More importantly, does anyone play "Air Bass?"

No air bass, but I have been "caught" more than once going down the road jammin' to Journey. I even had 2 guys ask me to flash them to LTS!!!

I'm sure I've seen Perry do it on stage.

I "air bass" to "One More" and a lot of the ROR songs, and "After the Fall." I even throw in a little "bass dance" for fun.

Every time a Journey song comes on, it's rare to see me not air-playing some instrument somehow.

Yeah, music school geeks are known for "airing" the more obscure instruments. Tuba, harpsichord, crumhorn, bassoon, synclavier (for my mad Tori Amos moments). But who hasn't "air bassed" to Ross' line in Don't Stop Believin'? No-one I know.

I don't play the air guitar but I do belt them out at the top of my lungs. My poor husband just listens and smiles and then tells me how good I am. He is so sweet because I am not so good!

Yeah but dude, do you go with the Ross Valory tickle bass move, or the Randy Jackson, "Black Tap routine?" You know, stick your gut out, and slap an imaginary Craps painted Jackson sig bass?

Yup. As a bass player of 25 years it does happen, but I tend to listen to what Smithy (SP stuff) or Castro (live or SA era) is doing on the drums and syncopate my feet and hands so its a mix of bass and drums, very sad indeed. Makes it fuckin difficult to drive properly with a manual gearbox and the missus moans and complains especially when the twins are in the back and I'm deemed to be driving dangerously and putting their lives at risk. They are more likely to have hearing impairment I guess, though they like the feel of the sub behind them, sends 'em to sleep!

This past year, I've been doing a lot of "air lip-synching" although I can't imagine why.

Dude, I sing all the time (if singing is what it is called - LMAO)

Posted here and elsewhere - bad karaoke.

I air guitar and air bass all the time. I can play a bit for real, but the air stuff sounds WAY better.

Sing all the time in the car. People turn and smile at stop lights when I have the top off my Jeep. I guess they smile because their too polite to laugh! Also drum on the steering wheel, side of the door, the roll bars, the dash......I've given that old Jeep a beatin'!

I sing but I don't play any air insturments. Kirk plays air insturments but sometimes I can't really determine what he's playing!! (gotta love him!)

I unfortunately, have played "air manager old school 1980's." I pretended I was Herbie, mowed down cheeseburgers and pizzas, and now am fat. I need to practice "air Irving" where I look like a nerdy fag, but deep down am straight. Ever notice that fucker looks like Elvis Costello?

I don't "Air Bass" but I do play air drums and drum with my hands all over the table at home and my desk at work. My co-workers and my wife are always telling me to knock it off because I drive them nuts. Kinda makes me want to do it even more!

One day, back in 91, I was driving to band practice...and I realized after I left the house...that I didn't learn a particular song. So before I got on the meadowbrook parkway, I reached into my backseat....pulled out my guitar....put the tape (yes, back then we had tape players in the cars) into the player...and as soon as I got out onto the parkway....I drove with my knees....and learned the song. Went a good 10 miles without touching the steering wheel with my hands...

I told my bassist about my drive down later that night and he laughed and said that he just read in a recent magazine that Steve Morse used to drive the LA freeways while playing guitar (and steering with his knees).

Only when Billy Sheehan is the bassist I'm listening to....only Billy Sheehan....then, the guitarist could be steve vai, Paul gilbert, evh, neal...I don't give a fuck. Billy Sheehan makes me want to air bass like there's no tomorrow.

herbie & pat morrow used to tell me i needed to build up my "management profile." one of them would call & tell me to go to the elevator. when it arrived on my floor, the doors would open & i'd find just a plate with a doughnut on it or a bag of chips on the floor. it was pretty funny.

Just go along to any RUSH concert. There you'll see lots of air bass, air guitar and above all air drums among a large proportion of the audience.

Air-vocals.

From the top of my lungs in the car when I drive alone or humming in the shower.Housework comes with dancing and singing most of the times,lol...
I also "sing" the guitar solos note for note.Voice-guitaring?LOL

If I need a voice warm-up before getting on air,I fully sing along with Perry on Lady Luck. That's one heck of a warm-up song! :D

I used to worry about people in other cars seeing me singing the tunes, then I realized that I probably don't know them, and even if I did, they probably do or did the same thing at one time. Who cares if someone see's me singing along? I don't.

I haven't played an air instrument since I first saw it in the Seperate Ways video. that learned me real quick like.

I prefer air keys on the dashboard or air drums on the steering wheel - but yes, I have indulged in the art of air bass.

"Lady Evil" from Dio/Sabbath is a great tune for air bass.
