Fuck that is awesome. Worth the 3 minute wait to get to it.

hmmm. I wonder why that video says "Japan" in the title? Maybe it is because it was shown there. It's from the Bay Area Music Awards and was filmed at the Warfield in SF. It was Jon's first live gig with the band. They played two songs - and Neal was definitely amazing on this one!

Thanks for the added info Lora! I knew it had to be sometime around when Jon started with them based on their ages and how they looked. It's cool to know that was his first gig. Awesome Neal solo! Thanks for posting this! Glad Neal brought back the purple shirt last year 8) 8)

That was great! The band was more "raw" there. They were having fun and jamming. Awesome guitar by Neal and Smith was really getting down. 8)

Perry gets the only writing credits on the sheet music.

That is the best I've ever seen Journey in action. Perry is at the top of his game and it sure sounds like that is his raw vocals with no effects added. Schon's jammin on that killer solo. FUCKING AWESOME! My favorite Journey tune.

That song needs to be played more often. It's a gem. And it needs to be played with that amazing extended solo.

As well as

DIXIE-FUCKING-HIGHWAY!!!

God Dammit, Jeff!
Tell Schonny, Ross and Friga to put Captured on and
re-learn this fucking gem!!!
With you and Deen on board, this song
would be a monster live

Great song. Always one of my favorites. Perry was such a great singer. He's got some weird spastic moves, but dang, who cares??
Greatest vocalist ever. Having that nose would be worth it if it includeded having that voice.

Hey God, I'd like that for Christmas please! I'll be good!

By the way, is from a full length show? How can one get their hands on it? Methinks this was from a Bammies performance, but not sure.

NOT Bryan Adams, that's for sure. I think Mr. Soto will do just fine though.

Gee do you think he can hit them? I'm betting Deeno would cover on that. And while we're at it, lets throw "Sweet and Simple" in the rotation.

Soto can do this easily. Dude, I have seen him fuck around and hit everything this side of Mozart. He can do this easily. He can hit the same notes as Perry. Why is this so hard to understand?

Bryan Adams, that would be great, NOT! It will be cool to see if Mr. Soto has that kind of range. That song gets up there with the original key hitting a high D note on the vocals.

I guess because I haven't heard them hit first hand yet.

Now you're getting carried away. He can hit similar notes, but he can't come near Perry's stratospheric range and the way he emoted music. Jeff is a true talent, but he is simply not in Perry's league. Not many have ever been.

Soto is good, very good!
I was a sceptic at first, but, he's really good, I think he can do it. :D

This might be my favorite live clip of Journey. I've always been partial to this number and I LOVE the raw sound they had for this performance. And Neal just fuckin shreds...To quote Eddie Murphy in COMING TO AMERICA "DAMN that boy's good!"
