OT: Shaw and Blades

Please, the next time I come on here and say that Howard Stern can help Journey, I don't want to hear any dissenting voices.

These two guys were on Wednesday on Howard and were amazing. Thursday, the entire show, Howard, Artie, Fred and Robin were still talking about how good they were. No BS techinical help, just Tommy and Jack on stools and acoustic. I cannot believe how good they sounded.

AR, listen to the repeat show this weekend and tape it. I would but don't know how to record off the internet.

Tommy Shaw blew me away with his voice...I am impressed.

Of course, after all the glowing by the Show's people, Gene Simmons came in and pimped all his newest KISS stuff. A bowling ball with Genes face on it was the last straw. This guy is unbelievable. How he landed Shannon Tweed is beyond me.

Tommy is God, pure and simple, listen to 9DZ, track 3 and the final number. He's the coolest fuckin' rock star on the planet...period 8)

Agreed. The Jeff Watson issue notwithstanding, Jack is just as rockin'. He doesn't get nearly enough credit. His songwriting credits are stratospheric. The two best songs on "Arrival" and Styx' "Cyclorama" were co-written by Jack.

So tell me why we don't have a band called "The Three Amigos" featuring Neal Schon, Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades?

It's a no brainer.

Furthermore, I wish to Hell Howard wouldn't insist on talking up all the dirt regarding Journey. If he wouldn't ask the TG questions, they would be great guests. That is why they will never go on there.

However, I could see Neal and Soto going in there and just playing some acoustic WITS or SIL...Neal could dodge questions like he has. Hmm.

Genki Desu Ka.....Pieces of Eight brought up to date, brilliant song! Carrot CD has it all, seriously. That's what, as I've said in the past Journey have to do, drop the format and be a bit more adventurous  Tommy has a vision for Styx and all credit to him.

Perhaps a better name for the band than "Three Amigos"? That's almost as band as the Lep's working title for their new record, "The Glitter Lounge".

I sincerely hope you aren't serious.

1st off, Neal is better than both those guys, easily.

2nd, Kevin Cronin? Dude, they wouldn't let that fluffy fucking fag in the room with them.

Dude, please tell me you weren't serious.

Hey, he's a great pal of Tommy's and he did a great tune on 9DZ, I know he's fruity but he's an instituitional figure. You can't hate the guy dude

I used to love REO. Have all their albums, and I don't hate KC, BUT...He has grown way too fruity for my likes.

I am more pissed you said "Neal would fuck it up." How can that guy fuck anything up? The best fuckin player in the world. Check yourself, or blame the comment on you being Euro. That will explain it.

Hey Dean, pardon me but Clapton is the best player in the world, I didn't mean he'd fuck up, I'm pissed a little here in Euroland, he just wouldn't fit in with those guys

With all due respect, I don't think EC is better now that Schon. Schon can play more shit and different styles and genres than middle finger Eric.

I still don't get the "fuck it up" comment. Blades wrote on Arrival, Neal toured with Tommy...there is a genre connection here.

'Fuck it up' retracted...let the four of them get together, close Journey down and there you have it the next Asia..or should we call it blasia, to give Jack a bit more credit

I have no idea how to record streaming audio either. Anyone out there know how? I can get Sirius through my computer.

I don't have anyway to record off my standard Sirius unit either. I only listen at work and the car. It is not hooked until my home stereo. My house would need an antenna run up to the roof to get the signal. and I'm not handy enough to do it.

I see Shaw/Blades on Thursday night in Annapolis, MD. 8)

Following along this thread, which I think is a GREAT idea Dean, I read the "Neal fucking it up" comment
meaning Neal would "fuck up" dancing around the TG questions that Howard would undoubtably throw out there.
We all know Neal usually just says whatever is on his mind (and I LOVE that).

I, too, have been wondering for years when Shaw, Blades and Neal were gonna finally just say, "fuck it" and do an album/tour.
Hell, Damn Yankees is on hold indefinitely

Christ...if those two muppets can get on the Stern show then Azoff should have no trouble getting Journey some decent publicity this year.

Shaw and DeYoung worked magic together. Just like Blades and Shaw are doing now. Would like to see Shaw and Schon and Blades do a cd.

By the way selling my HSAS cd, any bidders-ERIC

Tommy and Jack have SO MUCH MORE chemistry than Shaw and DeYoung.
Tommy's an amazingly under rated singer, player, etc.

Tommy's amazing. Tommy and Jack together are magic.

For Fucks sake M, Muppets, that's just pathetic...Shaw and Blades are where it's at currently in States, they're cool fuckin' guys and no way would they ever appear in Disneyland in the Muppet show, you've taken to time to listen to their material I take it?

I gotta agree here.
Matty, Matty, Matty...
Not even talking about their vocal/instument skills,
Shaw and Blades are one of the best, if not THE BEST melodic-rock
writing combination on the freakin planet.
Fuck, you think Perry/Schon/Cain were lethal???
These 2 guys are just made for eachother.

Now imagine an ENTIRE album of tunes co-penned by
Shaw/Blades/Schon/Cain...
Talk about heaven! :D

Clapton is to guitar what Muhammad Ali is to boxing.....washed up. Ali is punch drunk and Clapton is braindead. The guy should be in fuckin' jail for letting his kid crawl out of a skyscraper window. The only thing dumber than letting that poor kid crawl out a window is your logic. Listen you stinky Eurofuck, with all the money you save by NOT wearing deodorant you should have no problem saving enough money to go to the Journey show in Virginia. I would take great pleasure in kicking your ass up and down route 66. Start saving your silly fucking currency, scrotum sniffer.

There is an undeniable genre connection. I think I would wonder how Neal would fit in to a 3 Amigo's type of set-up. Tommy and Jack have always been gifted acoustic players. Neal is a wonder on electric guitar, genius actually, but I'm not completely sold on his acoustic abilities. Not to say he couldn't pull it off. But maybe that's where the hesitation stems from.

Adding Kevin Cronin to the mix would make for some great harmonies. It could be like our generations version of the Traveling Wilburys. Seeing those four guys together in an Austin City Limits type environment would be amazing.
