Please allow me to speculate about something that I think would have been abso-freaking-lutely amazing.

Granted, this scenario leaves no room for Journey, but hear me out.

Don't Fight It has always been one of my favorite songs - period. Kenny Loggins is such a great writer/musician. I don't know how much collaboration there was on that song between he and Perry, but their voices go so well together. And, the songs just KICKS!

So, I wonder what would have happened if Kenny, who had just split with Jim Messina in '77, heard of this Perry guy and got together with him instead of just going solo. Those two could have written and recorded hit after hit after hit (Just like Steve did with Journey, I know).

I can only imagine the stellar music these two would have put out over the years. I would almost give up Journey to witness what would have happened down this road.

Kenny and Steve together would have been most excellent.

In some semblance of seriousness, Kenny is really good, but flys too often dangerously close to the "Cheese-Zone" (that's about everything on the Top Gun and Footloose soundtracks and upon recent review, most of Back to Avalon)...

I always thought that the song, "Forever" was Kenny's best vocal performance. He actually shows Perryesque range on that one. That song had potential to be a Perry/Loggins duet. Imagine both vocals soaring on that one.

Aside from that, give me the Journey material over Dangerzone, I'm Alright, Meet Me Halfway and Footloose anyday.

His best song is "The Real Thing". It's an absolute gem...he wrote it after his children were baptized. This one will bring tears to your eyes.

Again, I am talking about the potential collaborative genius between Perry and Loggins, not all the stuff Loggins put out on his own.

I love "Don't Fight It." I also think Kenny Loggins is a super talented musician and songwriter. He used to be our client and he was a really fun and cool guy to work with. I saw him a few times in concert when we were running his fan club and he puts on an amazing show. Lots of connection to the audience and he surrounds himself with good players. It's a shame that his name is synonymous with schmultz to many people. Same with another client of ours, Michael Bolton, who is also someone I admire as a musician/songwriter and a good guy despite the fact that his vocal style isn't what I prefer. He has a great sense of humor and really cares about his fans.

Michael Bolton WAS incredibly talented Lora, but seriously anyone who wants to write and record songs with the only appeal for 70 year old grandma's needs to really jack it all in.
This guy once rocked his ass off, then along came the covers, and more covers, and more covers, and now he is dramatically losing his fanbase (apart from granny that is). No, he seriously needs to either jack it, or get back with Bruce Kullick, Mark Mangold and kick some serious ass again. Or maybe its wayyyyy too late for him.

Just remembered I've been hearing news about Kenny's new album and looks like he released it yesterday.

Looked it up on his site...Audio samples are up.Nice,if you like country/rock.
