Please allow me to...

Please allow me to speculate about something that I think would have been abso-freaking-lutely amazing.

Granted, this scenario leaves no room for Journey, but hear me out.

Don't Fight It has always been one of my favorite songs - period. Kenny Loggins is such a great writer/musician. I don't know how much collaboration there was on that song between he and Perry, but their voices go so well together. And, the songs just KICKS!

So, I wonder what would have happened if Kenny, who had just split with Jim Messina in '77, heard of this Perry guy and got together with him instead of just going solo. Those two could have written and recorded hit after hit after hit (Just like Steve did with Journey, I know).

I can only imagine the stellar music these two would have put out over the years. I would almost give up Journey to witness what would have happened down this road.

Kenny and Steve together would have been most excellent.

Waitress, I'll have what he's having...

Whaaaa? Kenny Loggins is talented, but...come on. You'd rather have "Return to Pooh Corner (reprise)" than "Frontiers" or "Escape"? What the hell are you smokin'?

Knox, submit yourself to the insane asylum. Think before you post.

Steve Perry is obviously not stupid. You think he sat there one Sunday in Candlestick....

watching the 49er's wax the Rams yet again in the early 80's and say, "Hmm, I like KLogg alot. I wonder if I should breakway from the biggest band on Earth and sing Don't Fight It again and for the next 16 years or maybe I should stay with these musical genius's I have now, and that fat fucker who is like a god that is currently my manager. He does own half of San Francisco. Hmm. Um....Ok, I think I'll go with KLogg."

Probably Not.

Drugs= Bad for You Knox. Now go bang that old lady of yours again.

Herbie was NOT fat. He was a girth-enhanced, metabolically-challenged ex-hippie with an affinity for doughnuts and bacon burgers.

*cough* Yahcht Rock..This has to be a joke thread..

In some semblance of seriousness, Kenny is really good, but flys too often dangerously close to the "Cheese-Zone" (that's about everything on the Top Gun and Footloose soundtracks and upon recent review, most of Back to Avalon)...

I always thought that the song, "Forever" was Kenny's best vocal performance. He actually shows Perryesque range on that one. That song had potential to be a Perry/Loggins duet. Imagine both vocals soaring on that one.

Aside from that, give me the Journey material over Dangerzone, I'm Alright, Meet Me Halfway and Footloose anyday.

His best song is "The Real Thing". It's an absolute gem...he wrote it after his children were baptized. This one will bring tears to your eyes.

And around the time him and his wife split...

That one's in my list...Here are other favorites:

Swear your love
Heart to Heart
Heartlight
Nobody's Fool
Lorraine
Let there be love
The real thing
Conviction of the heart
If you believe

Did he put out anything good after "Leap of Faith"

Guys, I didn't say Perry would be with Loggins on Return To Pooh Corner Danger Zone.

I was talking about the potential for more songs like Don't Fight It.

Oh, and Yacht Rock is such a new term, way to throw that out.

I am unashamed in saying I love songs like:

I'm Alright
Whenever I Call You Friend
Vox Humana
Playing With The Boys

Again, I am talking about the potential collaborative genius between Perry and Loggins, not all the stuff Loggins put out on his own.

You people are just mean sometimes

And I will post while on Benedryl anytime I like  .

Honestly, though... Am I alone in thinking Don't Fight It is an excellent song, or you guys just think it is so-so?

I love "Don't Fight It." I also think Kenny Loggins is a super talented musician and songwriter. He used to be our client and he was a really fun and cool guy to work with. I saw him a few times in concert when we were running his fan club and he puts on an amazing show. Lots of connection to the audience and he surrounds himself with good players. It's a shame that his name is synonymous with schmultz to many people. Same with another client of ours, Michael Bolton, who is also someone I admire as a musician/songwriter and a good guy despite the fact that his vocal style isn't what I prefer. He has a great sense of humor and really cares about his fans.

Michael Bolton WAS incredibly talented Lora, but seriously anyone who wants to write and record songs with the only appeal for 70 year old grandma's needs to really jack it all in.
This guy once rocked his ass off, then along came the covers, and more covers, and more covers, and now he is dramatically losing his fanbase (apart from granny that is). No, he seriously needs to either jack it, or get back with Bruce Kullick, Mark Mangold and kick some serious ass again. Or maybe its wayyyyy too late for him.

Dammit. Leave it to Lora to ruin a good assbeating.

Sometimes Lora, your level headed, well written and much sensible posts hurt my argument.

Knox, I like all the songs you mentioned except Playin' with the Boys. That is about dudes humping dudes.
