Since Faithfully is my favorite song (PERIOD), I am biased. It is definitely one of Journey's best in the ballad "genre". The video was very well done, I think it really captured what the song was about. It seems over the years that meaning has changed, but I think that only speaks to how great the song is. It has evolved with the band and its fans.

Incredible song. Every member of the band is downright ballin' on "Faithfully."
"Open Arms" is powerful, yes.... about as powerful as the fart I just let out....

Let me get this straight.
Faithfully, written by Jon Friga, is the greatest ballad ever,
or
Friga is a "piece of shit?"
I can't figure it out.

Sometimes when I watch that Japan clip,I forget about the song and focus on the vocals without realizing.
It's fascinating the way he was in total control of his voice.Amazing.

Both....I can have have my cake AND eat it too.

And it has VERY little to do with who wrote it, rather who SINGS it, who plays guitar (and how he plays it) and Smitty knowing EXACTLY when and how to hit the skins.

You people should reading too much into what I say.
Just because Journey is an amazing band, doesn't mean they have stand up guys in the band.

You mean we shouldn't expect any "I love you Friga" or "Hugs for Neal" threads from you anytime soon?

Have searched YouTube twice for Why Can't This Night Go On Forever and it isn't there. There used to be a couple of versions of it but no more. Do people post the vids for a while and then take them down? Never thought about YouTube and how it works before actually.

Amazing is definitely the best word to describe it.

I think Perry summed it up very well in that GMA clip - You had Neal, the unleashed rocker dude, you had Perry, the melody maker, and then you had Cain, the "Amadaus" of the trio. Those three parts formed one whole, the essential core of the Journey mystique. Sure, Gregg had a hand in writing, and prior to JC joining the group you had lots of Perry/Schon compositions that were great, but even Neal said that at the end of Evolution, the band had nearly run out of steam, creatively. You take what Neal and JC could do together, from a musical standpoint, and add Perry's gift of melody on top of that, and the potential was just unreal - No part of that three can be discounted from a writing standpoint. That trifecta created a magic that will never be replicated.
