Feel free to post your own...

"Not The Typical Hero"

By:Liam Sterner

11/9/05

Is there ever really a reason

For someone to fall away

A change of season

But you'll never see the day

Stop the world in progress

One last time

Never again have to confess

Anything ever out of line

It's weird the way things work

You never really say goodbye

To the ones you love

Just disappear without a sign

Times in life you want to fly

But when you finally do

It always comes as a surprise

Why leave this place?

Work your fingers to the bone

Most of your life

Not the Typical Hero

Just kids and a wife

If someone would've known

Could they have helped at all?

Done with the seeds you've sown

I guess you were ready for that great fall

All the problems you'd seen

All of the things you'd tried

All those memories

Gone in the blink of an eye

The love remains

and so do we

All the things you thought we'd find

Are all things you'll never see.

You saw another generation begin

At least you knew the names

I guess in a way you win

So you didn't leave in vein.

It can't be the perfect Country and Western song either. It doesn't mention Mama, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk. ;)

The best chorus of all time:

I was drunk, the day my mom, got out of prison
and I went, to pick her up, in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickuuuuuup truck
she got runned over by a Goddamned train

Yeah nice work man. Very moving...

I lost my Dad when I was a very young man, and he never got to see his kids really grow into men, nor know any of his grandchildren. I'm glad your Dad had the chance to be around long enough for that.

Well done.

As do I, brother...And while I think that YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL ME DARLING may be the perfect country song, my personal favorite of his is still "Pussy-whipped again". A masterpiece!

Ok...Here's one to go with a lighter subject (sorta). It's about feeling vindicated with an ending relationship. Written back in '03. ANDREW...COPYRIGHT THESE THINGS FOR ME.

How Does It Feel To Be Used

By: Liam Sterner

I’ve seen you in the morning light

I’ve felt you destroy me in a fight

You’ve crushed me too many times before

How did it feel to have control?

You’ve seen my maddening frustration

You didn’t care about my pool of devastation

You’ve finally gotten it back today

So all I have to say is..

(1st Chorus)

How does it feel to be used?

How does it feel to take the abuse

How does it feel to be used?

Now you’ve finally felt my pain

How does it feel?

Now you’ve seen the world through my eyes

Now you own all the things I learned to despise

My influence has finally paid off

When you lay in your room crying until dawn

(2nd Chorus)

How does it feel to be used?

How does it feel to be completely confused

How does it feel to be used?

Now you’re the pawn in the game

How does it feel?

(Guitar solo)

You’ve run me down

You’ve run me out

You’ve left me hangin’ on my sanity

Too many times to count

You were all I ever wanted

Now you’re all I hate

The world you destroyed

Replaced with what you create

How does it feel to be used?

(Repeat 1st chorus & fade out)
