TBF haters need to really listen to the vocals on that album. Pure brilliance. Oh yeah, and this...Perry LET Journey (Schon and his 26 wives, Friga and his gay tendencies and Ross and his 16 bankruptcies) MOVE ON. Think what you want, but they had 1 more album to do and Perry did it and let them move on WITH the name. Quit trashing HIM and trash Friga and Schon for their poor decisions...like Augeri. Pery still loves and repects their music, unlike Friga and Schon.
PS Friga is a ball licker
Dan,
I spent much of today cleaning and watching the greatest hits DVD and a boot DVD a kind soul here sent me. I also watched the video that Travis made of the Journey concert at the polo match. And here's my thought...
I agree. Steve Perry IS utterly incredible from beginning to end. The more I watch, the more I respect the earlier stuff with Rolie. What struck me though in comparing the Journey of 'then' with the Journey of 'now' is not the lead singer, it's the rest of the band. Particularly Neal and Ross, but Friga some too. There is nothing more fun to watch than Ross 'getting into it' or Neal totally kicking ass on his guitar. I don't see that enthusiasm now. I don't know if it's age, or boredom with the same music over and over and over and over... or a combination of the two (likely). But, I don't currently see men up there with a passion for what they're doing.
I don't know if Jeff will ultimately make a difference in that, and truthfully don't know if SP could bring back any of the spark either. I am hopeful for only GREAT things for Jeff, and even if the Journey gig doesn't work (I have no reason to believe it won't!) I think he'll come out on top. I would obviously LOVE to see a Journey reunion with SP, but that's for selfish reasons.
