Anyone else a little disturbed by this?
Reality TV show lets viewers decide who gets kidney transplant
Do you think reality TV can't get any more outrageous? If so, you're in for a shock.
A Dutch woman will decide during a live broadcast on Friday which of three contestants will receive a kidney transplant when she dies from an inoperable brain tumor.
"Viewers will be asked to text in to advise the woman, known only as Lisa, which one of three candidates to give her organs to after death. All three are seriously ill and on dialysis," The (Glasgow) Daily Record reports.
Dutch politicians have called on public broadcaster BNN to shelve the show, De Grote Donorshow, or The Big Donor Show. The network, whose founder died of kidney disease, has refused to bow to their demands.
"Some people will think it's tasteless, but we think the reality is even more shocking and tasteless: Waiting for an organ is just like playing the lottery," said network chairman Laurens Drillich tells the Associated Press.
A renal expert disagrees, telling BBC News that the program is "ethically totally unacceptable."
"The show will not further understanding of transplants," Professor John Feehally, former head of the U.K.'s Renal Association, tells the broadcaster. "Instead it will cause confusion and anxiety."

Why don't we start a show and let 693 woman guess my Johnson's size?

Trouble with that is you'd have to find 693 women who haven't seen it.

Disturbed but not surprised.
On a daily basis I hear things like, "Some people just shouldn't be allowed to have children." "Some people just don't deserve to live." "Some people just need to die." "The fetus is NOT a human being and therefore has no right to life." "The fetus IS a human being but it's merely an extension of the mother's body and therefore she has the right to destroy it." "Those in a state of coma should be euthanized and insurance companies and hospitals spared the hassle."
Etc., etc.
Passing judgment on who is worthy to live or die has always been and will continue to be a disturbing reality.

They were talking about that reality show on GMA this morning. Even more disturbing to think it would probably be a hit.
(So is Dean's YIM avatar.

Wow. That's a whole other level of disgusting. I don't see how any sane person could be a part of something that's taking advantage of someone's desperation to live. Let me guess...this is going to air on Fox, right??

My dad died waiting on a kidney. I know how important organ donation is. But this is just not right, imo.

Doesn't sound right to me either, makes a mockery of organ donation. Sorry about your dad, chick.

Sounds like a good idea to me. More often than not , it's the wealthy who receive organs first. The rich and famous, needing a liver because of alcohol abuse can buy their way to the head of the line.

There has to be a better way. Everyone knows the wealthy benefit from this first, and this is the best thing someone's come up with so far? That's just sad.

11:30 PM
"E! Entertainment Specials Wildest Party Parents"
A glimpse into the world of a wealthy Dallas, TX family, where the father parties too hard and his 3 daughters aren't gonna take it anymore.
....just imagine YOUR Father caught on tape, with a MAJOR problem..
YUP....THAT'S ULTRA-LOW!

How can anyone get that jocked out of shape about this when the content of this link is going on.

At least the subject of this topic has a ring of fairness about it.

They need to have a show where a dozen third-world orphans compete to be adopted by Madonna or Angelina Jolie.
Losers each week end up at Neverland, or wherever MJ calls home these days.

You should pitch that one to Fox, Niggy. I'm sure they'd love it. No doubt MJ would, too....
