I have been Googling Jeff Scott Soto for any news blurbs I can find and I see quite a few headlines that state that JSS Quits. I think this is a disservice to him based on what we know happened. Wonder if the band instigated those headlines to make it look like JSS's fault. Bastards.

Well. We know based on what JSS has said himself that is not the case.

I'm really curious to hear what JSS has to officially say regarding this....regardless, I'm hopeful that there will come some honesty out of this thing, from both sides.
Journey hasn't said anything specific in the press release....I don't expect em to come clean, but a guy can hope. I would lose any and all respect (of what's left) if they can't speak frankly about this, given it's the 2nd singer firing in less than 2 years.

saw this in several places - looks like a truncated press release - someone needs to proof their crap

Rockers JOURNEY are on the look out for yet another frontman following JEFF SCOTT SOTO's departure.
Soto stepped in for the band when a sick Steve Augeri quit the group last year (06), but now he has become part of rock history after announcing he has left the band yesterday (12Jun07).
Soto's first appearance with Journey was in July, 2006. His last show was last month (12May07).
Journey guitarist Neal Schon says, "We appreciate all of Jeff's hard work and we can't thank him enough for stepping in when Steve Augeri got sick last year.
"He did a tremendous job for us and we wish him the best. We've just decided to go our separate ways... We're plotting our next move now."
The group has enlisted a Journey fan to temporarily front them for the remaining dates on their U.S. tour with Def Leppard.
Journey are back in the headlines thanks to their 1981 rock anthem Don't Stop Believin' which was played at the end of The Sopranos finale on TV in America on Sunday night (11Jun07).

That's what I'm saying. There are stories like this all over the place making it sound like Jeff quit. It's like adding insult to injury.

As much as Jeff is hurting right now, the quicker he releases an official statement, the better. It'll put all this stupid speculation to rest.

Augeri quit? Jeff quit? Journey tour w/Def Leppard this year? A fan stepping in to help?
How many lies can be told in one piece?

My bet is that he DID quit because he was all geared up to create some new stuff, and all they are interested in is touring with the old stuff. This is only a hunch, but think about it. Who else out of the hardcore fan base would buy a new CD? There is no financial/creative interest when it's probable that the cd won't sell well, and everyone will take their beer/bathroom break during the live performances of any new stuff. On a creative level, that's got to be frustrating for everyone involved.
My feeling is that the classic Journey sound well has dried up for Cain & Schon and they have no interest in recreating the wheel at this point. So it's onward with the dirty dozen.
Again, just an hunch.

I'm sure he's chomping at the bit to get his statement out! I can't wait!

Frank...You will have to grow a very long ZZTop-ish beard until the truth comes out from that camp."Truth" is not a word they love.
However,if you don't want that beard,look for Jeff's press release,you know?...
Btw,Cat,thanks for posting that.Another reason to believe that hypocrisy has no limits.
What a way to end another day...Shame on them.

One more thing...IF anyone believes for a second that Jeff "quit",re-read this.
UncleHeFTy wrote:But since the Virginia gig he felt increasingly isolated but threw himself into the organisation of the closing pages of one of the chapters that helped to make Jeff what he is today – the Talisman Farewell Tour. And alongside that he put most of his career on hold.
Imagine, then, seeing the rumours of his demise beginning on chat-boards and meeting a music industry acquaintance in a far-flung land to be told “Hi Jeff, sorry to here you’re not in Journey anymore!” and then at a hotel to be assured by a member of ‘management’ that “nothing was going on” not once but on numerous occassions.
I was woken last Monday night at around 11:30pm by a distraught Jeff with the simple phrase “I’m out…” Quite simply I couldn’t believe it – perhaps it was a bad-dream.
Does loyalty count for nothing?
Does THAT sound like a singer who wanted to "quit"??

If this is in fact the case, I have three words for Jeff, "Who needs them?" If this were the garden of Eden, and God had the choice of throwing out the serpent or Journey; the SERPENT would prevail.

How sad. I hope Jeff gets his side of the story out soon. I just don't see how they could cut him out like that. Their loss indeed!

Laura...it's safe to say that the *truth* surrounding both 9/11 and JFK's murder would likely come out LONG before the deep trench of bullshit coming out of Journey for the past 20 years is cleared away.
Journey's been fucking it's fans for a very long time. It's sad. fucking sad. I said this over at TJF...JSS was simply a 12 month reach around....now it's back to getting rammed up the ass by Frigga and Fro.

Neal & Jon have a track record and the same old statements when they express sadness that a singer departed. They need to be shut in a room and have to reread their statements in many interviews. How damn dumb do they think their adult fans are. We have memory, the recall of the internet and I see it as like when my kids tried to tell half truths or embellish the truth. Deceptive, sad and another stain on their history.

I have to say I really don't like the subject title of this thread. It's going to make people think Jeff bailed on the fans when it was the band that bailed on him. Just a thought.

Well they've pretty much written themselves off to the county fair circuit!

Myimpression from what I've seen is that JSS got blindsided by the sacking, and I'm left to wonder (and I'm sure many others are wondering the same thing). What the hell is Journey smoking? Why in their right mind would they sack a singer that singlehandedly kept their tour alive, energized the fans, generated rave concert reviews, and got people looking forward to the future for once? Maybe because I'm a software engineer I think too damned logically, but nothing about this makes any rational sense, unless they're outsourcing the lead vox duties to China or some other country like seemingly every other business in the USA has been doing.
Ungrateful bastards

This all sounds pre-meditated to me. They obviously had no intention of allowing Soto to become their 'official' lead singer, but lead him along as they needed him to fix the Augeri/backing tape problem. I think Soto was being played from the beginning. In fact my own spin on things goes back to rumours prior to Soto joining of Journey taking the 'Rock Star - Search for a lead singer route. Journey are greedy/old//desperate for money and will sell their souls to increase their own bank balance and I heard romours that they were offered a shit load of money to do it. Perfect for pampering their egos too, especially Neal and Jon who were pissed off at Soto taking all the limelight. They are all a bunch of deceitful bastards who deserve to be exposed for the way they have treated Soto. Jeff is one of the nicest guys in the business and they took advantage of that. I hope Jeff seeks legal advice and exposes them all all in court, as that way someone can bring up the subject of backing tapes, which is the very reason why Jeff was brought in, in the first place... to save their asses. Ungrateful bastards.
Sharp and bitter.

Just read the press release and I am quite suprised they did not use the old, time-honored "musical differences" excuse....
Journey should hang it up and call it a day. I have followed JSS's career off and on since I first heard him sing on Yngwie's debut album. He doesnt need Journey, he can build a more successful band on his own.
Steve Perry is probably cracking up about this one....
