Im just a casual Journey fan, but I did see them open for Def Leppard last year. They were OK, but it wasnt the same with a new singer.

Im sure this questions has been asked a million times, but I dont follow Journey news, so please understand!

Why wont Steve Perry rejoin the band?

Does the band hate him for some reason? Is it because he left the band so many years ago?

Or does he have something against Journey?

Who is standing in the way of this reunion? Id pay to see them again, but only if Steve Perry was the singer.

Thanks

I think it is Steve Perry. If he wants a reunion, there will be one. Even with as much totally dumb stuff Neal and Jon pull, those 2 would never pass up that gravy train.

The answer to your question is quite simple, actually...Steve Perry has zero desire to be a member of Journey. He hasn't been terribly involved with singing anything, over the past 10 years. I suspect that Perry's voice may not be what it once was. Journey's catalogue of music is tremendously difficult to sing, night after night. Perry was the only one who was ever able to pull it off. That said, I'm not sure the Steve Perry of 2007 would have any shot of measuring up to his own lofty standards, from 25 years ago!

There's bound to be at least 1000 factors involved. Being replaced when he was out with a bad hip is one. The exhausting schedule of touring that is the norm for Journey is probably another. Bottom line, the door is closed permanently (as per Steve). He has no desire to go backwards, and for that, I applaud him. Onward!
