That dude could sing for anyone, he's got some great pipes. I think he was a little toasted in that first clip though. No harm in that.

Great post,I hope it dont get hijaked like the last one.I ve seen him four times, he is one hell of a singer. He sounds even better live. He is a really nice guy also.If you would email him a request, he would sing it and say it was for you{he would say your name} I dont like what went down either, but if Journey wants to go on with someone that can sing the leagacy {like Steve P, lets be honest] Jeremey can do it.What makes me sick is, Ive seem him do it and he makes it look so easy. I know it is still an emotional time right now for most people, but when Journey goes on tour next year and if they hire Jeremey,This board will be filled with positive vibes for him and the band.You can quote me on that.You ll see.{Sorry for any misspelling}

Tree- Thank you so much ! That kid was good. Who needs to watch AI 8 yrs to see 2 really sucessful singers ! I hope they can write to have a career. I also would love to see Jimi sing with Peterik at Andrews shindig in South Bend. Maybe they can take up again and let crazy guitarist Sullivan wonder WTHIUWT.

You're out of your tree Tarzan! Jeremey does it brilliantly. After Soto, I don't want anyone else to front Journey except Perry or Hunsicker. He will make you eat your words given the chance. I promise that.

"Brilliantly" fits! What do the tempo and backing vocals have to do with Jeremey's voice anyway?

Not a damn thing. Froy has no clue anyway. He spends most of his time in another forum and comes in here just to get shit riled up. You know I'm right froy.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, and this is only an opinion, but it just sounds like bad Journey karaoke to me. Way to nasally for my taste. Perry was a little nasally at times, but I think with him it was just a natural inflection in his voice. Just doesn't do it for me.

And your opinion doesn't count! j/k

I hope he gets the gig and changes your mind.

Honestly, if he gets the gig, I would buy front row tickets (that was $300 last year). If he doesn't, I probably wouldn't bother to drive the hour into San Antonio in evening rush hour traffic, and fight the lines into the stadium. He's the only one who can cut it, IMO.

Why do some people feel that a singer for Journey has to try to sound like Steve Perry in order to pull off the songs?? Just curious.

I thought SA and JSS pulled off the songs extremely well. Jeremey does also. None of them sound exactly like Steve Perry.
Jeremey's range and power are what pull me in. I don't like to do comparisons, I guess everyone has different wants.
From what I've heard so far, I'd love to hear some more independent work from Jeremey.

I don't think that way, or I wouldn't have liked JSS. He doesn't sounds like Perry, but I sure love the way he sings Journey's music.

JSS has amazing power. I love to watch his Queen medley.

I see what you're saying, but sometime immitation is not the sincerest form of flattery. Is this how Jeremey always sings, or does he sound different when he sings non-Journey songs? He seems to be a decent enough vocalist without having to try to sound like SP, and I would really like to hear him sing in his own voice. I just don't think someone has to mimmick Sp in order to sell a Journey song to an audience, that's all.

Jeremey sings in his own voice. It just happens to sound like SP's voice. He did do a cover of Unchained Melody that can be found on Youtube, but he said he was then doing an imitation of Hatfield as that was the point of the competition. You can see it at this link.

Listening now and I have to say I think he IS immitating SP on the Journey tunes, because he sounds completely different on this song.

Someone asked him that yesterday morning and he replied:
"The reason I did the Steve Perry tribute show was because everything I'd ever done in my life was compared to Steve Perry. From Jesus Christ Superstar, to original singer/songwriter material, people told me it sounded like Steve Perry singing whatever it was I was working on. After reading reviews of original material I wrote in the late 90's being compared to "steve perry with an acoustic guitar and drum machine," I realized I would never be taken seriously on my own merit. I could alter my voice, and go with whatever sound may have been popular at the time, or just live with it. The "Unchained Melody" is a Bobby Hatfield impression from my impressions show, which incidentally went nowhere because everyone said all of my impressions sounded like Steve Perry doing whatever impression I was working up at the time. So that answers your question, hopefully. My voice is my voice is my voice. Maybe a little rhinoplasty would change that, but I don't know. If "anyone" could do a good Perry impersonation, mine would be a pretty crowded field, I would gather."
Someone else posted a link which I can't find, it has some of Jeremey's own music on it from 2003. He still sounds like Steve Perry. I guess he was just born that way. Lucky dog.

I think the opposite, but I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this point. No biggie.

Maybe it is just the way he sings, but he still sounds like an SP knockoff to me. Everyone has different taste, and to those who like him I say enjoy, but I just don't feel any emotion in the songs from him at all.

Well then, lets both go to a Journey concert when they tour, and I'll bring a big bag of tomatoes and we can both bounce them off of Frig and Fro's heads. How about that? That way if you don't like the music, you can still have some fun.

It's not a comparison, it's a truth. You're ok.
