THE OFFICIAL TRIBUTE SINGER POLL

OK...Let's end the argument here. Which tribute singer do you think is best? My money is, just ever so slightly, on Juan Del Castillo of Lights. He just edges out Jeremey.

Here are the contenders from the four major bands that I'm aware of (some links are direct to videos on Youtube. Others are to another page with links to samples):

Hugo (Evolution): Evolution's official site, Medley

Juan Del Castillo (Lights): Any Way You Want It, Faithfully, Lights myspace page

Dan ? (Separate Ways): Separate Ways official site

Jeremey Hunsicker (Frontiers): Stay Awhile, Faithfully, Frontiers official site (click on "Audio" link)

My apologies if I've missed any...

Jeremey hands down.

If someone has the link to his originals you might want to post that too, I can't find it right now.

No, I didn't miss him. Just including the most well-known here in the U.S.

There were several other Journey tribute bands out there I didn't include also. Took too much time just to put the links together for the ones that ARE there. No slight intended.

This guy's website actually helped him score backing vocals on a couple of albums. Note the comments from Tony Denander, who's done a ton of these melodirock things.

Wowzers! Why haven't I seen that clip of Still They Ride (my fave song) of Jeremey's before. Damn that was good, almost gave me the chills.

Jeremey. I've burned both sets of his Amos concert onto CD. Got a set in my car, in my kitchen, and at work.
He's lacking nothing.

The separateways band sounds so much like Perry I thought for a second it was him.

I've maintained that once the anger simmered down, people would be able to focus on how remarkably talented Jeremey is.

Whatever happened to the "none of the above" option in these polls?

Who the fuck want's to see an ex-tribute singer singing for Journey, anyways? What's the point? Sick!

I already have the DVD's. I'll just watch those when I want to see Journey from now on.

Brian- same sentiments. I will only pay to see Jeff again or Perry and I am aging by the second .

On Jeremey's website, under Audio, the links for the Jefferson Center concert are not working for me, but the links for both sets of the Amos' Southend work fine.

Why would a serious musician waste their talent impersonating someone else? Where's the creativity in that?

Yeah, somebody had already taken "Daniel" so the system auto-generates "*Daniel". Kinda fruity, but oh well. Larry - are you going to make the show?

Anyway, this way anyone at the South Bend concert will already know who I am..."That's that loud-mouthed Night Ranger-obsessed dork with the big nose, honey! Geez, he looks just like the goofy kid from New Kids on the Block! Let's go kick his ass for talking smack about Frankie Sullivan". That's what I'm expecting from Mrs. Slander...unless JoePa saves my ass.

I think we need to start a thread for people going to the show - who's driving, who has extra space in their Fiats or Citroens, who needs a ride, who's staying where, et cetera - and if I wasn't so damned tired and lazy, I'd start it myself. Maybe tomorrow.

P.S. Larry - a nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat! 8)

I listened to these finally. He's on pitch all the time but there's something about his tone that doesnt appeal to me on almost all of the songs. I cant put a finger on exactly what. I don't get any fuzzies from the interpretation either. No "feeling". Then I got to Suzanne & I really liked his interpretation of that. His tone sounded so much better too. Cute of him to do this. I'm glad he got some work. He's got a good voice for bg vox.
