I just browsed through a few of the other forums and there's almost no talk about the SB Event on any of them except Jeff's. :? That makes no sense to me. :?: You would think the Survivor board would be completely buzzing with this. Do we need to go to some of these other boards and hype it up?

I think I'd hire a kid at Notre Dame to promote this show as much as possible; posters up at the student center, library, dorms, guitar center, etc.
Also take out small cheap ads in the events magazines in the cities around the venue, stuff Andrew is probably already on.

I have a bunch of stuff planned, but anyone that is up for flyering or spreading the word around SB/Chicago that hasn't contacted me already...please do. PM or e-mail (ajm@melodicrock.com)

I think Cookieduster had a good idea about promoting at local colleges. I don't live in that area, but I have worked promotions in the past and had some luck posting and spreading the word at the local colleges. Campuses are pretty empty during the summer, but a good time to get the word out would be Orientation weeks and the first week of classes when students, especially new ones, are checking into what's going on in the area. Posters or flyers in the Music Dept., near the bookstore and other spots around campus could drum up a lot of interest. Most dorms have events boards, and some schools will let you post event info on their web sites. You've probably thought of this already, but I thought I'd mention it just in case since it worked well for me in the past. I was even able to get a music professor who taught the Music Appreciation course to add an event to his list of off-campus activities that would count for extra credit if the students attended and wrote a paper on it. I imagine students thought, hmm, chamber music or concert where they sell beer....no brainer.

Notre Dame football is away the day of the concert so I'm sure those left behind will be eager to have something to do.

That was MY idea fucker. I also said the radio station promoting the show should broadcast live at Notre Dame and play a HUGE block of songs by the artists that are going to be at the show. Give away a few tickets, have a call in contest and you'll create some sales. The MAIN problem is that a LOT of college kids probably know the songs but have no idea who the lead singer is, and the fact that Jimi Jamison and Keagy and Blades are NOT being touted as Survivor and Night Ranger is a HUGE problem. My ND idea is a good one I think. Andrew, you need flyers? PM me anytime. I can go ANY weekend you'd like and take care of that. Saint Mary's ALL GIRL College should have a flyer on every dorm room door.

Working on flyers now and I'm also wondering if I should be flyering folks as they attend the Deep Purple show next week at the Morris. After all, JLT WAS Deep Purple!

Set something up and I'd be more than happy to help you out. SB is less than 90 miles from me and I love the downtown area. Would be my pleasure.

Hey thanks, I might buy you a shot for giving me such helpful advice.
I think Andrew needs a keg stand by the time Oct. 6th gets here.
Liam will be on full alert.
