The latest on Jason Kelty

Hey everyone,
I've sent messages to a couple of you in the past, and posted a little about this last night. For those of you who are interested, I've spoken to Jason a few times over the last couple of months, and I can tell you that he is DEFINITELY no longer interested in non-Christian music! I approached him about recording vocals on some of my original tunes, and sent him a bunch of songs. He was a very nice guy, and took a few days to listen to them, and warned me before I sent them that melodic rock just isn't his thing anymore. He's committed his life to the Lord. He said he really liked the songs, but just couldn't sing on any non-Christian music.
That pretty much sums it up! You guys can keep debating, but I can assure you that unless Journey goes the way of Stryper with the next album, it won't have Jason Kelty on it. I must say also, that he's a hard person to track down! He was shocked that I found him! LOL!!! Hope this helps shed some light on the subject.

One weekend bender with me and he'd be "a singer in a smokey room" in no time.

I honestly don't think the Lord would have a problem with him fronting Journey. I gotta talk to this guy. Shit, he'd HAVE to listen to "Saint John."

I believe he is in Ohio, but I can't remember! I've been moving into a house for the last 3 weeks, and I don't know where my notepad with his info is. I'm still unpacking! All I have on my computer is his email address.

Search google for Escape Pc repair and you will have all his info... He lives in cleavland. Tell him to ask god about singing for Journey to see what god has to say. I think the poor guy got brainwashed by some cult personaly. All that talent and it cant be shared with the world because its wrong in the eyes of god ? This isnt Slayer were talking about here right ? That sounds like some braniwashed cult shit to me. Doesnt sound like he was saved, it sounds like he was lost but who am I to judge.. Dont get it and never will.

God has a different plan for everyone. For people like Kerry Livgren and Dave Hope of Kansas, His plan was for them to stay in the band for awhile. Kerry Livgren still keeps in contact with the guys in Kansas and even wrote the entire last studio album. Same for guys like Mark Farner, Lou Gramm, etc.
Others find it better to leave their secular bands altogether and either work behind the scenes, do something different, or whatever. Nothing cultish about it.
i agree

Good point, Im a worship leader, and people ask me all the time to do secular music. I still listen to others, but each person has to make a choice whats good for his or her life, Me personally, I can identify with Jason, I wouldnt go back to playing secular music. So good For Jason.
On another note, Lincoln Brewster, the guy who played for Perry, is one othe most gifted, and annointed worship leaders out there, I dont Imagine him going back to Perry anytime.
Its not a cult, its a choice.

exactly.
I do both secular and Christian and find no conflict for me.
Lincoln is awesome. I saw him with Perry. I asked him (via internet) if it would offend him if I wore the FTLOSM shirt to a service. He said, no, he'd be honored. but I, too, doubt that he would go back to secular.

Can't think of a better way to spread the "word" than to front a band that plays in front of several hundred thousand people a year. I'd tolerate a few minutes of sermon if it meant having Kelty in the band. Hell, he'll reach FAR more people on the road than he will holed up in some church with the same people week after week. T-shirt ideas? "Journey 3:16" "Schon The Baptist" "Mathew, Mark, Luke and Friga" "Cain and Azoff" Any others?

Is he playing any Christian music? Has he recorded any? I would buy it in a split second.
And Lincoln! Last time I checked he had not recorded any Christian music. Geeze, he was a great guy on the FTLOSM tour!!!!!!

I can not listen to Christian music at all. Every song is about the same thing ! God. Nothing wrong with God of course. I wouldnt want to listen to any artist that sings about the same thing in 12 different ways each album. It just seems to me that not doing secular music only limits the possibilities.

A truly versatile artist can dabble in both secular and Christian music. JSS did it, and well I might add.

You know what....you're 100% correct. He wouldn't even have to say anything in concert directly. And anyway...Journey isn't exactly Motley Crue out there!

This guy sounds just little over the edge. It's too bad, what a voice.
I'm pretty religious myself, but this scenario of fronting journey wouldn't even enter into the crossing the line argument if I was him.

Man, that is a shame.
This dude sounds amazing, I will never understand why people give everything up for God, I don't believe that is what he wants us to do, but that is just me.

God is supposed to be #1 on everyones list. Even before family. Jason sounds like he's doing just that. The selfish part of me is bummed, but good for him

I dont mind christian music when its not slaming"God" or "Lord" or "Jesus" down your throat , unfortunatly thats what Brewster does , its kind of a turn off to his music, it just seems every 7 seconds he has to throw the word Lord, jesus ,or God into his lyrics like he has a quota or something.

well, yea, Yul, but understand that his "concerts" are actually church services. or rallies for teenagers. the intent of the praise and worship services are to lift up the name of Jesus, Lord, God (the definition of worship as it were) and that is what his "shows' are--praise and worship services. so that makes his songs--um--maybe modern day hymns?? -- which would necessitate the incorporation of certain words, names, etc. just a thought.................but one can look forward to the ineviatable shredding!!! awesome. (I don't think he does any other kind of music- for now anyway.)
