Queen AT&T commercial - Is Journey the only holdout?

I just saw a commercial for AT&T using one of my favorite Queen songs. "You're my best friend."

Not happy to see that but, hey, I guess they need to keep the mula rollin' in? Which brings my question.

Except for that Budweiser co-promotion tour thing in the late 79 or 1980, have any Journey songs been tied to American commercials?

If its just an instrumental backing, I guess I wouldn't care but using the actual songs irks me.

I just saw that about half an hour ago and nearly choked on my diet Pepsi. It isn't the first time Queen has been used. Coke used "I Want to Break Free" in a commercial, only unlike this last one it was the REAL Queen song.

Didn't Journey show up in a car commercial?

And why should it bother me so much to hear the Beatles, Queen or Journey on a commercial? I can't pinpoint why that makes me so sad/irritated.

Some commercial is also using "I Want It All" ...I want to say its Coke as well if I'm thinking right....and it also was the real song....maybe they bought rights to a handful of tunes or something??

It bugs me.

I think its because we have memories of these songs, where we first heard them or something they tie into for us.

For me this was probably the first song I liked by Queen and went to get the cassette (it was the 70's).

Just like The Cars being used by Circuit City (Just What I Needed). Ugh, I try not to shop there now.

Led Zep songs for Cadillac. I never thought Led Zep would commercialize their songs.

The Beatles is because Michael Jackson bought up the library and started dealing them out.

The only exception for me is if its used in the iTunes commercial or like this one, I actually enjoy these:

Ford used "Any Way You Want It" a couple of years back for a commercial. I'm not sure if was a regional thing here in Indiana or a national commercial, but AWYWI was used.

It'd be cool if Journey put out a song Apple deemed worthy of a 30 second spot.
First they have to find another singer.

I've discovered lots of different music via those ads. This one's odd but its kinda addicting. Daft Punk electronic.

And, there's a commercial using a Supertramp song now...and the Blondie song for Swiffer wet mop. Stupid. I'm not thrilled hearing songs I like being used for selling products, but I'll admit to having heard some neat songs that had me looking up the info for the name/artist of the song. But, some product commercials forever ruin it for the song. Car commercials for Journey are okay - Liquid Plumber, for example, not.

Oh no...

Now you got me thinking of what Journey song would fit Liquid Plumber....

1. Only Solutions
2. All the Way
3. After the Fall
4. Easy to Fall
5. Patiently
6. Lay It Down

I wish I could blame this inane post on booze, but it's more like heat stroke. It's like 90 degrees and here in the Bay Area we are heat wimps. Or at least I am.

[wilting into oblivion now]

90 degrees? That's it?

Glad you said it, I didn't wanna have to. I think it got to 105 degrees down in Central Cali where I'm at.

That was wrong though, matching Journey songs to plumbing products? At least it wasn't for Pepto-Bismol.

All The Way?
Easy to Fall?
