You had:

Fleetwood Mac
Journey

....those are the 2 that come to mind, after reviewing things on YouTube (thanx to the "Obscure 80s Songs" thread)...please; feel free to add on...

....both bands were in their "thirtysomethings"....and STILL GOING STRONG....

What the HELL happened in the last 20 years that makes that "age group" such a "black mark" NOW...even if you're STILL PRODUCTIVE??

:? :? :? :? :?

I am the "author" of 2 threads:

FUNNY what happens when you put the name "Steve Perry" in ONE of them.

  8)

Not sure I understand the question. Do you mean current artist's in their 30's or the bands from back then?

Sheryl Crow's really the only one that comes to mind. Sadly she's doing it with a cover of a cover (I HATE her version) (First Cut Is The Deepest).

But I'm sure there's others in their 30's and 40's getting airplay, I can't think of anyone else offhand.

I think it's really about the songs though. What's the last great original song by any older artist or band you heard with or without airplay?

I've yet to hear REO Speedwagon's new cd but am hoping its good.

youngsters dont buy lots of music with performers over 30 ... unless they are certified classic rock.. 30's and older dont buy much music for themselves.. plus .. 30's plus write different music.. less of whats cool at the moment..
older musicians = day job..

If I understood the topic correctly, the 70's & 80's bands actually played live, wrote their own material and had singers that actually could sing. The 50's were Elvis and the 60's the Beatles. Late 60's things were starting to change.

Wow, I'd never heard that but found it and I like it! Yeah, it starts out just like the other song. I actually like it. It's different enough that I don't mind it. It's just the acoustic chord changes that are the same.

Thanks for pointing that out.
