What Is Lying In The Vaults?

There must be loads of great material in the vaults. Better than anything they could do now probably AND most of it will have SP singing. Does anyone have an insight into how much stuff could be lying around? One way to "protect the legacy" - expand it!

You know, I wondered about this myself until the Time 3 box set came out. I seem to recall reading someplace that Journey's touring schedule took priority over recording new material. That very little time was spent in the studio and when they were there, they would record very quickly. Make just enough songs for the album, record it and run back out on the road. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I think happened with Journey.
I think Steve Perry has a lot of solo material in the vault that we'll never hear. Stuff he's not proud of or happy enough with to release to the public.
Vault?

Didn't they say they recorded something like 30 songs during the TBF sessions and picked the 'best' ones for the album? I would love to hear the others.
Who would like to hear Perry sing on "With A Tear" (not the demo) and "Into Your Arms"? And with real drums, not the stupid drum machines on the instrumentals from Time3.

I think that's when Neal and Jonathan sit in their vaults and say things like, "We are going to release a video box set." Or, "This is the last Journey lineup." Or, "We will release an album by ______"
I think THAT is the real definition of "lying" in the vaults.

I hope you're right, but how do you know this?
Another thought- If there is loads of stuff warehoused, I think they need Perry's approval on what can be released. They probably have some contract stating they all have to be on board with a decision like this and if Perry is the only hold out, then it just won't happen. I get the feeling Jon and Neal wouldn't hold out on anything being released at this point simply because they need the money. Perry doesn't and he' s more concerned with what gets released. If it's not good enough in his eyes, he won't do it.

Think about it.... Journey pioneered the use of video in concerts.... they'd been recording themselves for years mastering this....

Oh, you mean performances of the songs we all know already? Sorry, we were on different pages. I'm more interested in stuff we've never heard. Completed songs or demos which have never been heard by the public. Tired of the dirty dozen already. I'd like to hear whatever else Perry recorded with these guys. Even the incomplete 'With a Tear' demo was cool. Too bad they never finished that song.

There has to be unreleased stuff too... most artists would record 20 - 30 tunes then cherry pick for the album submission to the label.... what I meant was there is loads of unreleased
everything ..... music, live video... etc.
