1. Journey's hits were MONSTER HITS.
2. They changed with the times where other bands didn't. (KISS 70's, 80's and 90's sounds the same to me)
3. They kept releasing albums after Perry left. Some will say that's not a good move but I disagree.
Releasing 3 Augeri fronted albums kept the fans around (even fans that don't like Augeri).
True, the Generations cd leaves A LOT to be desired.
4. Almost ALL their Perry fronted music is great. It's hard to find a bad song on any Perry fronted Journey album.
1. rush's hits were AMAZING
2. rush's style changed with the times as well
3. since their second album, rush has had the SAME 3 members
4. almost EVERY rush song is GREAT-EVERY song from 2112 and EVERY album from moving pictures and up is GREAT
1. Agree (sort of). Yes, Rush has also had some great songs. But their appeal isn't as widespread since they rarely sing about love and relationships. That's not a bad thing in and of itself. That's part of makes Rush what they are.
But it speaks to the post of why Journey gets more posts (more popular). Journey has sustained a larger fan base for those very reasons.
2. Agree
3. Moot - Having the same people in the band doesn't make much difference as long as the music's good. In Rush's case, the music IS good so this point is moot. Augeri did put out some good stuff with Journey, unfortunately it will always be compared with the hits from before.
4. Disagree. Rush's albums were great up until "Presto". They came back strong with "Roll The Bones and Counterparts" but dropped the ball on "Test For Echo" and "Vapor Trails". Presto, TFE and VP have a couple good songs but some not so good stuff too.
Feedback is a great cover album and the new one "Snakes And Arrows" is good.
Mainly its point #1. Rush appeals on an intellectual and musicianship level. Journey's appeal is on emotional level so it attracts more people. Journey is "feel good music".
