Is Augeri not an option?

If Steve Augeri is not an option moving forward, why? The band enjoyed success with him, he is a fan favorite and is suppossedly healthy again. I'd rather they go that route than an unknown commodity. W/O Perry, Augeri or Soto - I am not interested in the recreation.

Your definition of success with Augeri is not the same as others' definitions.

Album sales with Augeri were horrible. They were not in the same galaxy with Augeri as they were with Perry. Augeri could never go back to singing those songs again - were they to stick with the old material. His genetics just don't allow it.

Neither do a Mid-50s Steve Perry.

Let's just enjoy the past. These guys are ALL getting old. Stop expecting them to be what they were.

It's over. Period.

We'll always have '81.

I don't blame Augeri for the lack of album sales. I think he did as good as anyone could in his position, having to step into some HUGE shoes. 1st of all the music environment was completely different than Journey's prime time. 2nd, 15-25 year olds are buying most of the music, us old farts simply don't buy what we used to. Lastly, NO ONE could measure up to Perry, period.

Knox hit the nail on the head. Sad but it is OVER. Treasure the past!

Well said, Knox.

Just as I could never get into fantasy sports, I can't get into Fantasy Journey either.

Post of the day right there.

How do we know Augeri is healthy?

If he lost his voice constantly the last 3 years with the band, how could they go back to him?

I think had they released something with Soto this fall, with the hugely pro-80's wave that exist currently, they could have had some decent album and song sales...

The bridge was burned with Steve Augeri. They got wanted from him. Hopefully if can still sing he will put out some solo material. Dont look for anything new from Journey. They gave up after Arrival, which I liked .

Augeri WILL be back sometime after October of this year. His "No compete" clause in his release expires at that time. He has 2 albums due out. One is the second Tall Stories album and the other is a solo album. His voice is back and is fine.

To answer the going forward with SA question. Why would he want anything to do with a bunch of classless individuals that all played a part in Tapegate and then left him swinging all alone on the branch. Would you want to work with them again after that?

Right On.

That's right around the corner. Hope its some good stuff.

Would he go back? Everything in me says no but anything can happen in this soap opera. There may be a desire to redeem himself or cash in again.

I can't imagine they'd even ask him to do it. It'd be like asking JSS to come back now.

Unfortunately, Jeff is no longer an option. I'm not really sure he was the answer to the 'pro-80's' wave anyway, because he added such a fresh take on the classics, it was almost like they were new again. Incredible!!! Luckily for us, Jeff is about to embark on a US tour that is sure to knock our socks off!!!

Now... if the band formerly known as Journey wants to take advantage of the pro-80's wave, they need to go with Jeremey Hunsicker. For those of you who haven't ever been to one of his shows, it's almost like being in the room with Steve Perry himself. If you close your eyes while he's singing, at times you may not be able to tell the difference! The youtube videos don't do him justice!!! Jeremey would be the perfect choice to allow Journey to get back on the road and ride the nostalgia circuit with any semblance of credibility, if that's even possible at this point.

I've seen and heard Jeremey, and while I think he's great, he's no Steve Perry. If I closed my eyes I'd still know it was Jeremey Hunsicker. Journey, through poor decisions, has left themselves with two logical scenarios. Talk Steve Perry into rejoining or call it quits. Those are the only two options that would ensure proper closure...so I'm sure they'll do neither.

Ticket sales were good though and anymore that's all that really matters. I'd rather sell a million tickets than a million albums any day.

Granted. Groups make far more from ticket and merchandise than album sales anyway.

However, it does reflect what the public wants. The majority wanted the old tunes, and used the newer material as a beer/bathroom break.

THAT shows me that their success during the Augeri years was pathetic. All Augeri was good for was standing up front and singing Perry/Journey songs.

Very few wanted anything else from him.

Jeremey has a great voice which resembles Perry's but is still his own. Last year Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre was packed to the brim. Obviously they're still making money touring and they will still be doing it next year. Perry ain't coming back. So to me it's not illogical to think that they would hire Jeremey and continue for a few more years. I believe he would be the most logical choice for the job.

If people are not into nostalgia, then why are tickets still being bought?

It's amazing the Journey would even care enough to enforce a non-compete clause w/ Augeri. Insecure or what? First of all, no one makes money on recordings anymore. It's all about touring and merchandising. I hope Steve A. finds success on his own. He deserves it. No one else in the band made it a point to become fan friendly. Ironcially, Soto did as well and got canned also.

You're spot on mate, Augeri took the pipe when all of the bastards knew what was going on. Steve A did a good job of fronting the band during his tenure. He would be a dumb fuck to deal with the bastards again. May he have a successful solo career.

And in only a year's time, too.
