Hi all, sorry for not posting much lately.Life is busy.

But today I had to come here and express my feelings on this very sad day when the Americans are remembering what happened on September 11,2001.
My country is paying today a heartfelt homage for all those who have lost their lives then and to their families.

My heart goes out to all of you here who have lost dear friends or family in the attacks.
You know who you are...

The victims and the heroes will never be forgotten anywhere in the world.

Mys sister-in-law sent me this link and I thought I would share it here. The owners of this truck had it painted to memorialize those lost on 9/11.

I watched it too, Steve. In 2001, I kept my daughter from seeing it then ( she was only 5 in 2001), so I did let her see part of it today. I also took a few minutes to remember all the people who died that day. A very sad day indeed....

In an article on yahoo early this morning, I came across an this organization that wants to pay tribute to the people of 9-11..

http://mygooddeed.com/

This was in the FAQ section of the site...........

Why was myGoodDeed formed?
myGoodDeed was originally formed shortly after the terrorist attacks by a group that included relatives of 9/11 victims, business leaders and others who felt compelled to find a lasting way to pay tribute to victims and heroes of 9/11. Today, myGoodDeed has become an international organization encouraging people everywhere to respond to terrorism through acts of service, compassion and good deeds.

Who is behind myGoodDeed and the new initiative myGoodDeed.org?
A consortium of relatives of 9/11 victims, leading nonprofit organizations and business and community leaders make up the Board of Directors and National Advisory Board of myGoodDeed. See About Us for more information on board members and the organization.

Sounds like a good idea........

I was watching GMA that morning as it was happening. I saw every minute of it as it transpired and I still remember every minute of it as if it was yesterday.

The man that instigated it is still out there instigating though. And he will be until he dies of some death that has nothing to do with vindication for 9/11.

I feel asleep in front of the TV {like always} and when I woke up i saw skyscapers burning and talk of terroists and thought"Oh shit it happened again" Scared me,then I saw at the bottom of the screen that it was a rebroadcast.I going to have my daughter watch it tonight{if she wants to} She was 11 at they time, they let school out early. What pissed me off today, is that she told me they had 10 seconds of silence and but to busniess as usual. If people forget what happened, its bound to happen again. I pray it wont

That was a very sad day. I was at work and walked into the break room and saw one of the towers with smoke coming out of it on tv. I went into the coordinators office and asked what was going on, and he said the reports were that evidently a small general aviation aircraft had hit one of the towers.

He sent me out on an assignment and when I reached the gate I was supposed to work, they said another plane had hit the other tower. I thought the guy was joking, so I walked into the gatehouse and sure enough.... I remember the cold chill that went down my spine.

Then reports of hijacked planes came across the wire and that made the chill even worse. Then it was reported that there were two AA planes and two UA planes hijacked. I work for AA, so it really hit home then.

I called my mom and asked if she was watching tv and she said no, so I said with tears in my eyes that she might want to turn it on.

It was just the most awful thing I had ever witnessed.

Then the buildings collapsed one at a time, and all we could do is hope everyone got out.

The government then declared a nationwide ground stop on aviation, so we really had to go to work unloading more planes than DFW could handle. Then we had to go upstairs and take peoples bags off of the carousels because they couldn't handle so many. I remember a lady asking me how she could find her bag, and I asked if she was a connecting passenger and she said she was. I said well there is no way to tell whether or not your bags have been transferred yet or not, so they could either be here in this area, or at the baggage claim where your inbound flight came in. And she said "I just can't believe American Airlines is doing this to me!!". I so wanted to give that woman a piece of my mind, but I just calmly said, "Well good luck finding your bag ma'am.".

It started out as a really good morning, but after the attack, the airport was in a total frenzy. I worked my butt off for the rest of that day, but was glad to do so. I felt so bad about what was going on that keeping busy and helping stranded passengers made it almost bearable.

We lost 23 of the AA family that day, but I can't even imagine how it must have been for those who lost their husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, children and other relatives. And the New Yorkers that lost such a great part of their city, and the difficulties they went through, the uncertainty in their lives. Being scared that they are living in a terrorist targeted city. They had been through it before, but nothing of that magnitude.

God Bless America and all the people that suffered from that horrible day.

Our boys (my wife's kids) lost their dad in 9/11. He was a police officer who died trying to rescue people before the towers fell. We both lost some people we were close to that day, but it is obviously hardest on her. We spend each 9/11 away from the TV, newspapers, etc. in hopes of forgetting about it and doing something fun for a few hours - the LA County Fair, Disneyland, etc. Today we went fishing in Redondo Beach. I can usually keep her distracted until around 6 or 7PM, at which time she finally starts returning all of her voicemails, watching some TV and pretty much trying not to cry once the kids are in bed.

Today was tough, a bit touch and go but here it is 7:00, and we are back to that sad reality. It's a bitch, and as the time passes the the world seems to get even harder to understand. Each year I pray that the next anniversary will be a little bit easier on us, that people will learn to get along and be more tolerant. One day maybe it will be. But not today.

At least they are getting along better on this board, and that's a good start. :D

Thanks JSS for the song, I haven't heard it yet but I will try to check it out once she's asleep. All my best to everyone and their well wishes, E

My heart goes out to you and your family, and to everyone who lost a loved one on 9/11. Knowing how watching the tv coverage today affected me, it must be very painful for your wife and boys, and you. She's lucky to have you to help her through it. A good friend of mine was seriously injured that day. He and some other friends were outside the buildings when the second plane hit, and when the towers collapsed. Physically he's recovered, but he says there's not a day goes by that he doesn't relive it at some point in the day or night. I hope it gets easier for you in the years to come, and I'm with you in wishing for the miracle of people learning to get along more peacefully.

Hi, nice tribute.

I noticed you have "Beyond The Clouds" in the picture.

I'd heard Augeri wrote that about 9/11? Do you know if that's the case?

I am sorry for what you and your wife, and children have to go thru.I watched the rebroadcast twice today, and still cant beleive it,although it is in the past,it is still unbeleiveable. You did the right thing to try to have a good day and try to distract things.I pray for you ,your wife, and them precious kids that you now have to raise.Although the terrorist took away there dad,you seem like a good dad,and they are blessed to have you in there life.I commend you for being a man and being their dad.I hope it wasnt to bad for you both when the kids went to bed.Your post really got to me,You are a good guy,I respect you!! God Bless your family

I didn't lose anybody I know (one guy I know decided to go to the gym before work, or else he would have been high up in one of the towers), but I still can't watch any news replays of it or any movies about it. I don't want to forget, but I don't want to relive it either.

Yes, being a native New Yorker, Augeri did write it to reflect his feelings on that day, being away from his family and friends and not knowing if everyone was ok. It's part of the Generations interviews that Andrew did. The Engine Company and Hook&Ladder info in the corner is a dedication Augeri made on 10/20/01 at the Volunteers for America show.
