Chris Crocker, whose "Leave Britney Alone!" rant drew million of viewers on YouTube, will star in his own "docusoap".

Production company 44 Blue has hired Crocker, and co-founder Rasha Drachkovitch told Variety magazine they'd been looking at the online star for about a year before the Britney video became popular.

"It's going to pretty much be the 'Chris Crocker experience'," he said.

"We consider him a rebel character that people will find interesting. He's going to be a TV star."

Fans flooded Stuff.co.nz after Crocker's video was posted online, accusing him of acting and saying he needed specialist help.

In the video, Crocker defended Britney's now infamous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, yelling "leave her alone ... you're lucky she even performed for you bastards."

The video has had almost eight million hits.

All it takes to be famous these days is the willingness to make a fool of yourself.

Oh so this clearly explains what Journey has done over the past year and a half. (Make fools of yourself, get noticed, get famous)
