Jim Ayson:
"Hey journey fans! I'm not that interested in the forum wars actually - I'm really more interested to find out if Arnel got the gig. Did he? There's a rumor going around here in the PhilMusic forums that yessirree, he did get to land the lead vocalist job - but I can't find any official announcement anywhere."

"Journey has moved on, Arnel and Jeremey Hunsicker are no longer in the running the band is currently revisiting past auditions and the search continues... stay tuned!"

Hunsicker took himself out of the running by showing some class and opting to take the time to consider what was best for his family....something that's a big no-no with these guys. The 2 veteran acts that were auditioned did not as well as anticipated thus the band is left with Arnel, certainly a very good vocalist but not my first choice. I really think the band should plead to Steve Perry to do what ALL other bands are doing...reuniting with their most popular lineup. Either that or audition Jason Kelty if he'd be willing to do so. That dude has a set pipes that are darn close to Steve Perry in his prime.

I watched a cool show on TV last night about a former Hells Angels member who was kidnapped by ELN? I think it was and held for ransom. They ultimately released him though. Good show. Some hot bitches in that country.

What Cain & Schon NEED to do is to get down on their knees, grovel a lot, and BEG Perry to return. This is the only way to restore the legacy of this band at this point.

Sadly though, I don't see this happening.....

SJ, i updated my blog to get into detail about the offer that was presented to me from journey.

that being said, i think arnel will be a fine choice for the band, provided he put in some work with randy jackson to develop a bit of a persona and stage presence. i don't think jason kelty would have ever been considered for the position. i think steve perry has sang with journey since the last time kelty performed.

AJC is just a poster who left a comment. After reading the article and seeing the pictures (which they are crediting MR for) I feel so very sorry for Andrew. This must be very embarrassing for him and it is his credibillity at stake here.

Oddly, no! We use the old Mr. Coffee machine like every other American.

My wife's family grows and harvests coffee beans BY HAND but they don't brew it much or even bother to drink it. I guess it's like when you work around something all of the time it justs disgusts you. They also harvest sugar cane which is juiced and distilled into cakes called panela. Since this is sugar (and everybody loves sugar) it's used daily.

Colombian coffee is way different than ANYTHING you'd ever buy at Starbucks. In fact, the term "Colombian coffee" is nothing more than a reference to the bean - it's got nothing to do with preparation. Colombian coffee is thick like a fine syrup. It's served in tiny cups that are about twice the size of a shot glass. It's strong stuff and incredibly delicious.

Jeremey -

Can you elaborate on the following (either here or on your blog)

Re:

" i absolutely knew that this was a smokescreen. in truth, i was sure that one of the issues brought up in the meeting in california that neal claimed was a “deal breaker.” we had diseccted it and discussed it and resolved the issue, before the job was ever offered to me. when i left california, it was a non-issue, i had thought…

if neal truly wasn’t over this “dealbreaker,” I would be hung out to dry over the next several months, working on these 2 dumb songs, while schon scoured the globe for an option 2. it was a no-win situation. schon would basically confirm this fear later in the month, through an anonymous post on another message board titled “Do you want to know why Jeremey didn’t get the job?” "

Deal Breaker? What do you mean? Was this a scheduling / availability concern? Were they (Neal) concerned about the songwriting chemistry between you and the bandl?

Schon confirms an anonymous post? Can you (or anyone) forward a link to this. Also, how do we 'REALLY' know it's Schon?

What were you asked to do specifically?

Lastly, half a million? Initial job signing bonus??

regards,

It's a shame that Andrew has let that kinda stuff fester here for too long.

Deano and his like have taken these fine boards to new lows time and time again.

Those were the two questions that popped out at me, too. If you have time, Jeremey, and would care to elaborate I would love to hear it. Except for the money part. No reason that your finances should be up for public discussion.

I agree that it sheds a bad light on this forum, but if Journey wouldn't have been spineless and shut down their own website, articles like that would not be using un-official sites for Info.

None of this is Dean's fault. There has been alot said on this board about Arnel. To my best recollection Dean is in favor of Arnel.

BTW Darwin, when you point your finger at someone, remember there are 3 more pointing back at you.

This site belongs to Andrew, it is Andrew that faces the public discord.

There seems to be ALOT of misdirected anger at this board, and Andrew. Any notion that Andrew sanctions racist comments or unwarranted bashing is complete rubbish (you know..total BULL@!#). You gotta wonder why people get so worked up over this stuff. (A form of mental illness?) Going so far as to boycott the MR Fest...Anyone who's been here long enough should be able to see through the false accusations and based on a surface scan of the above linked 'philmusic' site, gross exxagerations and accusations. Andrew's a stand up guy. He may need some more moderators though, to wade through the inordinate amount of communication waste that gets stuck here every once in awhile. Sounds like a full time job to me. I wonder what corporations pay their forum moderators? Can't be cheap. Those of you that actually do like these boards, what do you think about this? I suspect if this continues, Andrew may have to retire his forums, for good. (one possibility that may not be too far off)

Nobody said Andrew sanctions the stuff on here... but he certainly didn't police it properly for a LONG time... and I'm not sure he still does. Time will tell.

Another thing Andrew does do is play favorites.... Deano is example numero 1 because his whole manner is just so over the top unacceptable in a public forum on a daily basis.

Keep in mind, Deano is a guy that's levied threats at the Journey camp over tapegate and crap like that.

Talk about dellusional... who gives a shit if they're lip syncing the entire show.... if you don't like it then find another band to follow... no need to threaten and take it upon yourself to "expose" the band. Get lives people.

Andrew, in effect, is supporting this by providing the virtual soapbox for guys like this to spout their rhetoric.

To be clear... Andrew runs a great site... and these boards really have great potential given the wide variety of visitors... it's a shame that the conversation has fallen to cesspool level all too often.

No....not really. I think you have a problem with Deano. There are other 'characters' around here, but few who have the character of Deano. And while he may be delusional on some level, as far as his over the top commentary, you have to look at him, kind of like a Howard Stern. (Not sure if you know who he is). Wildly entertaining, but to be taken with the sum weight of a single grain of salf. The guy 'keeps it real' though, and at the end of the day, there ain't nothing wrong with that, Unless you're in politics. One has to appreciate Deano's grass-roots efforts to stand up and call shananigans. Wouldn't you know shortly after his claims of Journey lip synched performances, their singer is replaced. I don't know... but THAT seems like a Nostradamus-like skill to me. OR...quite possibly, it was true...Doesn't help that the band operates like a cloak and dagger affair, both with its fans, and hired 'help.'

In either event, the 'find another band to follow' or to 'get lives', comment can be used over and over and over AND OVER, again and again. Keep in mind we are interacting on an internet message board, about an 70's / 80's band. Our level of relevance and discussion, even when appearing to have an actual effect on the band we are discussing, has a minute level of relevance, globally speaking.

So what I am saying is, enjoy this forum for what it is. If you are offended, you are probably taking this all a bit too seriously. Go outside and smoke a ciggarette, or go kick your cat. But please stop wasting your time at trying shut down the evil Melodicrock Web Admin (and genuine music fan) from Australia. He's not the problem!!!

My credibility is in no way on the line....you don't know who my sources are, but he was the guy. He spent time with the guys in SFO and if they change their mind (as they have on occasion been known to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), then why shoot the messenger???

And for the record, no one EVER said it was confirmed...I merely stated could it be the guy (hence the photo) and it still could be or maybe it might not be.
