"Piracy is a tremendous problem affecting the music industry," said the first witness, Jennifer Pariser, head of litigation and anti-piracy for Sony BMG Music Entertainment, the second-largest record company in the world. "It has caused billions of dollars in harm in the past four or five years."

Using a compact disc player as she sat in the witness chair, she played pirated and legitimate samples of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" for the jury to show the quality is identical, or nearly so.

DSB pops up fucking everywhere. It's amazing that out of the MILLIONS of songs Sony/BMG has in their catalog they chose that one. Unreal. More free press...more royalties.

Doesn't make me wonder SJ. It actually makes me laugh. They were too fucking stupid to capitalize on all the hype from the sopranos finale and now here they are in the spotlight and the band is non existent again. A true joke.

It's either the greatest illusion ever or the worst decision making ever. Time will sort it out.

Check the LOCKED "AJC said...." thread, last post by Andrew, dated Tue Oct 02, 2007 12:30 pm.....

To quote Andrew: "Late Addition PS - I have every confidence that Arnel will be the singer announced officially in due course."

I think maybe Andrew posted this after he locked the thread?

The record companies just won a download fight. Most have settled by paying them a few thousand dollars. This woman let them take her to court. She' been ordered to pay over $200,000 dollars.

Maybe they'll time next year's tour with the release of a new Sopranos box set, or movie.
Maybe there's gonna be a 'new hype' next year that we don't know about yet.
Maybe there were legal reasons why they couldn't tour this year.

As lame as Irving Azoff seems to us, I'm quite sure he's not an idiot.
We can arm chair quarterback this year to death, and it still won't matter.

later~

Good post. Azoff has found a way year after year to keep these guys on the road and line their pockets. THAT cannot be denied and not too many bands could've gotten away with releasing so little/such shitty music while doing so. I'm also quite sure that all the while Azoff has periodically been in contact with Perry's people or Perry himself about the "reunion" everyone wants. The Police, Genesis, Van Halen, The Eagles, and Led Zeppelin have all done it. Journey is seemingly the ONLY major player from the 70/80's rock scene that hasn't...yet. Sorry, won't stop believin'. 8) Not yet at least.
