OT: New "BOSTON" song

Postby rtz » Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:07 am

Sorry if this has already been posted. Didn't see it anywhere else on the board.

Not a song BY Boston, but a song with three of the original members of Boston, including the magical voice of the late, great Brad Delp.

This song was recorded by Brad and former Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau last year (and the drums played on the song are by original Boston drummer Sib Hashian). They had apparently given this song to Tom Scholz to see if he wanted to use it on the next Boston album. This of course was before Brad took his own life in March of this year.

Anyway, this song was performed by RTZ during the Brad Delp tribute show in August, and now has been released as a CD single. This song features Barry's fantastic guitar work, and it's great to hear a new song from Brad one final time.

You can listen to a short clip of the song, or order the CD single and/or download at this site:

Ordered mine on Friday, and have been enjoying the song for several days. Sounds more like Boston than anything Tom put out on "Corporate America".

They actually played this last weekend in Chicago and named all of the people you just did. The DJ went on to add that Tom Scholz was asked and did not want to participate on this song.

I agree, it sounds like the original Boston. I love it.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I think Boston would have created more stuff like their first two albums if Tom wouldn't have been so determined to get his way on everything. This song shows that Brad was the owner of his own magic. Unfortunately, a lot of that magic went to the grave with him, and was never heard. Brad had so much more in him that never made it to the airwaves. The "Corporate America" album showed that Tom Scholz was completely disconnected from Boston's audience. What's up when you have a woman singing a country song on a Boston album when you had access to Brad fucking Delp?

Great song! It's too bad Scholtz made their sound so "sterile" after the original band split up. Orion The Hunter and RTZ sounded more like Boston than Boston did.

The "Third Stage" album sounded every bit like classic Boston.

Rockin' Away

Postby RockitRide » Thu Nov 15, 2007 6:36 am

I heard the tune on my way to a conference in New Hampshire two weeks ago. I believe a Boston station was playing it. I assumed it was a song from one of the few Boston albums I don't own. I was diggin' it for sure!

Sound byte

Postby RockitRide » Thu Nov 15, 2007 6:41 am

In my opinion that sound byte does not do the song justice. I only heard the complete song once, but I wouldn't judge it based on that sound byte. It is the best song I have heard on the commercial airwaves in about 18 years.
