Bad quality and very harsh but you will get the idea. I spent some time trying to tweak it but not too much... Here ya go.. Many more to come...
He kicks ass in Stay Awhile.

Minus Perry, this kid is clearly the best person on the planet for that "legacy sound."

HOLY SHIIIIITTTT!!! This fucker can sanggg! His tone, pitch and breath control is identical to Perry's!
I'm not sure what's scarier, how much Kelty is spot on in his vocal or how much he sounds like Perry when he SPEAKS!! Did you hear him when he intros the song for the crowd? If someone told me that was Perry speaking I'd have believed it.
What a waste of talent.
Thanks for posting, Drummer. Please post more when you have time-

Wow!!! Simply amazing. Effortless. I might be willing to pay more for a Kelty fronted Journey than a Perry fronted Journey.

This is absolutely freaking awesome. I would believe it was Perry if someone told me it was too.

I click on it and a new tab opens with an embedded audio player that begins playing immediately.

I would guess Jason is mid to late 30's now. Saved by Jesus and wont sing secular music so thats that. I saw them live many times and was just fucking blown away everytime. I do have their old sound guy from the toy tiger working on getting me some soundboard recordings because those vhs tapes just have really bad audio quality. I have 2 full vhs tapes and will try to post everything from them as I go through them. If anyone can work the audio on these in to better shape by all means please do so !
Jason truly was one in a million. What you cant tell from this clip is just how easy it appeared to be for him. Not even a grimace on his face during the highest notes. The guys voice pound for pound had Perry's power and Jason sang the songs with emotion and conviction. Couple all that with that perfect pitch (which I believe he has) and you got the only guy on earth that could fool just about everyone. Really, think about it.. If a casual fan heard this clip they would think it was Perry no mistake about it. If they went and saw him live fronting the real journey they wouldnt know it was perry if he kept his back turned to everyone. It was just that scary. YEs there are some subtle differences because Jason isnt a gene by gene clone but the genetics that built their throats, cords and all the little things that make up a human voice are so close he even sounds like him when he talks. I had heard that Journey had heard him and was blown away but that he was just to close... To close ?!?? Oh well. At least you guys get to hear this shit now and know of one more reason to want to slap Neal and Jon. THey should have at least auditioned him. I dont know if mother father is on these tapes but if it is you guys are going to soil yourselves because he always did it spot on the live escape version.

I can understand anyone being sick of Perry copies however vocally Jason wasnt trying tonally to sound like Perry it was only with phrasing. Thats just how he sounds.. Blessing and a curse because any time he sings anything he sounds like Steve Perry so he was pigeon holed from doing much else as he told me when I spoke with him on the phone about six months ago.... That is where Jeremy and Arnel are lucky because they can sing other artists or just sing as they sing for their original music. This guy couldnt get away from it.

LOL....wtf do you think they have singing for them now?
That's all the want.
IMO, after listening to this boot from 97, Jason is about as close to Perry as most of the other real contenders. In fact, He's got that upper register strength that Chalfant has but Hugo's missing, arnel will never have....thankfully he's doing better things than draggin along with a band tributizing a bunch of assholes.

1997 Kelty and 2007 Jeremey aren't comparable. Not a slight to Jeremey, that's just how much of a dead ringer this kid is/was.

After listening to that clip, not only is Jason the best I've ever heard at singing Journey, the band is way better than most Journey tribute bands I've heard by far!

WOW!!! The thing that gets me is here we have Jeremey and Jason with voices that should be all over the airwaves with new music - these guys should be recording their guts out and NOT with Journey stuff!!! There is all this talent out there - it's amazing!
The tribute bands all seems to have a geographic area (I've heard a local Bay Area version, I was not blown away), so I don't even get to see Jeremey or Hugo and Jason doesn't perform anymore.
Or does he? Is he doing Christian music? That voice could turn an atheist into a believer!

Absolutely unbelievable. My wife still thinks its Steve Perry himself, she refuses to believe its someone else. Wow, Jason needs to get this voice back out there. I know I missed this on another thread, but does he still sound like this or has the voice given any?

Jeremey's original music is great. Hopefully he'll get some new stuff done for 2008. Can't wait to hear it.

Definitely the closest Perry sounding vocalist I've ever heard! As I mentioned in another thread, it was very cool of Jason and some of his ex-bandmates to come out to our HOB show in Cleveland earlier this year. He really didn't express an interest in singing anymore, which is really unfortunate.

Hope so...Working with 2 writers right now, and though time is always a constraint, the material sounds really strong. Looking forward to getting some new songs out there!

I saw a pic of Jason recently on the net and DAMN I can't find it agian!!! But he looked like he was in his 40's not his 30's? Shorter hair, not the long hair of his youth, etc.
We would need to compare Jason of now to singer X of now. Hell, I could sing Journey in my 20's!!

lol...

Put that fucker on the spot next time and pull his ass out of the audience for a song. You guys could trade Perry parts. That would be cool as hell.
