If he were, and if not with Journey, I would welcome a "blast from the past" project where he could have fun with some of his favorites from days gone by. We have often heard of Perry's influences in his singing style. I bet it would fly off of the shelves!

Now as for your idea...it'd be an ok idea if he'd been making his own music lately. But to come back on his first solo release since FTLOSM, I don't think a covers album would be accepted by most of the fans. I could be wrong, but if his new album that I've been waiting for since '94 or so was a covers album...I'd be pissed.

I didn't say I only disagreed with one. I only mention the one because it seemed like a real odd thing to match with SP. If you want a true number though, I think maybe 4-5 of those seemed like they'd be interesting ones on which to hear his take.
