Is Steve Perry in the studio?

If he were, and if not with Journey, I would welcome a "blast from the past" project where he could have fun with some of his favorites from days gone by. We have often heard of Perry's influences in his singing style. I bet it would fly off of the shelves!

15 Songs I would love to hear Steve Perry cover in a "Stroll down memory lane" type of project!

1. Cupid (Sam Cooke)
2. Me and Mrs. Jones (Billy Paul)
3. Into the Night (Benny Mardonis)
4. Too busy thinking about my baby (Marvin Gaye)
5. Rock your Baby (George McCrae)
6. How Long? (Ace)
7. She's Gone (Hall and Oates)
8. There goes my Baby (The Drifters)
9. Summertime (Billy Stewart)
10. Rosana (Toto)
11. Dock of the Bay (Otis Redding)
12. Tracks of my Tears (The Miracles)
13. Uptight (everything is alright) (Stevie Wonder)
14. Don't let the Sun go down on Me (Elton John)
15. The Lion Sleeps Tonight (The Tokens)

Weeeeeel, then. Why don't you just call up his agent and tell him that. I am sure SP will get right to it.

Maybe he and his camp will share some of that chocolate cake they were having the other day.

Welcome E5C4P3ING!

I would be interested in something like this if he ever decided
to give it a try.
I've always thought he would sound great doing The Long And Winding Road
by the Liverpool Lad's.

Do you have his number?

The idea is good and some of those would be cool but a few of them have been played to death. I'd like if he found some more obscure stuff.

Welcome Escaping.

Now as for your idea...it'd be an ok idea if he'd been making his own music lately. But to come back on his first solo release since FTLOSM, I don't think a covers album would be accepted by most of the fans. I could be wrong, but if his new album that I've been waiting for since '94 or so was a covers album...I'd be pissed.

Hey Liam, yeah, you'd be wrong on that one. If Raspy Stewart can be successful doing it, no doubt The Voice can too.

For the exact reason you mentioned above, there's been NOTHING since GH5 so peeps will go gaga to hear ANYTHING he puts out.

How many times have I read "his voice is sooooo sexy, he could sing the dictionary or phone book!" ... thud. !?

More than I can count.

Steve Perry is NOT in any studio and has no plans to enter one. Sorry to deliver such news, but that's the facts!

Well, what happened then? He made a comment that he was seeking the services of a voice coach to see what he had left. Maybe he felt like his tank was empty? Just him making that statement gave many of us the impression he was planning on recording something, no?

I agree. Cover albums are for fucking has beens. Stay retired, let Journey tour, and enjoy your life. Great sendoff you had for yourself and fans. Can't wait for that annual interview.

I didn't say I only disagreed with one. I only mention the one because it seemed like a real odd thing to match with SP. If you want a true number though, I think maybe 4-5 of those seemed like they'd be interesting ones on which to hear his take.
