This guy has a good voice but from the clips I saw he looks lost on stage, goofy like. I can't picture him with Journey playing live.

Why did they let Jeff go for this guy??

I worry more about his stage presence than his voice actually.

Look at Cheap Trick. Robin Zander is a KILLER singer, but it's Rick Nielsen that
fronts that band. I would bet that Neal will be doing it.

That one doesn't fly with me. JSS has as much stage presence in front of 50 people as he does in front of 20,000. At the Coach House show, which was a 'sit down' affair. Some people stood up here and there and were asked to sit down by staff. Well, a third of the way into the show, JSS just parked his butt down on the stage and said he was going to sit too. Needless to say the whole joint was on its feet after that. LOL, now that's called "controlling a room".

Exponentially better voice, a higher ceiling, and he's closer to the core sound that the band is famous for. Not to mention an eventual Asian tour would bring in more money than they've seen in a long time. It was simply a better business decision. A "no brainer" to me.

Yeah, that's true. However, if Arnel has never experienced the big, it might make it difficult to experience he little.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. IMO, you either have "it" or you don't. I've seen lots of footage of JSS playing for the little, before he played the big with Journey. Had the stage presence back then also.

Geesh, can we give Arnel a chance to learn and grow and flourish? As with anyone starting a new job or a new career (and this IS a job, a career), you bring certain gifts to the job and others you learn on the job and grow your gifts and talents. I would like to give Arnel a chance to learn and grow and excel.

And to be fair, he was thrown in short notice and I'm sure he needed time to warm up to the Journey catalogue (one of the hardest out there). To be honest, he slayed me on the Frontiers/ROR/TBF material, not as much on the real early material. But then that is the vocals of Perry's I liked the best, so that was fine by me. It's never been about the range for me, even with Perry.

But it required some patience to allow him to settle in....and as I recall plenty of people here weren't giving him that time before slagging him off as not being the 'right fit' for Journey. So here we are again and a new singer is being written off even before his first gig.

My thoughts exactly. The beginning boots were horrible. At the end, I was digging what he was doing quite a lot. People seem to be writing Arnel off for different reasons.

Arnel played that club for ten odd years straight. He was probably just tired of being up on that same stage. I guarantee, the performance you'll see Arnel exhibit in Journey will blow that YouTube stuff clean out of the water. Arnel's performance with Journey is going to be much like the videos of Arnel performing with AMO Band in CalJams in the 80's will demonstrate, that is when they are finally released publically for the first time.
