Poppycock at best...blatant theft from unsuspecting morons at worst.

This has been all over the media here in Oz. Absolute poppycock.

I've heard a lot about this from others, but have never watched it or read the book -- don't know much about it. From watching only the first few minutes of that clip, it looks like they are trying to imitate the "Davinci Code" to generate hype. I'll watch the rest later, and maybe will watch the full film, but I'm generally totally skeptical of these types of things, along with positive thinking/motivational stuff, etc. They are like a short-term sugar rush for anyone who falls for it... with a heavy crash on the other end.

I'm not trying to dis anyone's enthusiasm for "The Secret"... Just highly skeptical, and suspecting it's nothing more than the next big thing to manipulate people's emotions (and empty their wallets).

It's a bloody awful film. I rented it for $3.99, and like the time I was forced to spend at a Roberta Flack concert back in 1994 (ex-girlfriend with lousy taste in music), those are two hours I'll never get back.

Well it is working well for the author of the book. She got the highly sought after Oprah's endorsement, that alone is worth millions. The Secret paid off well for her.

Hmm... How many of Oprah's endorsements have ended up being shlubs... like Dr. Jan Adams? :P Oprah is her own god, and everything she does is for her own glory.

That maybe be true Rip, but if she endorses you, there will be money end up in your pocket. The sales from that book shot through the ceiling the day after the author appeared on the show.

Yeah, and Dr. Phil. He nauseates the fuck out of me. He seems to think he is an authority on everything - even losing weight. Why the fuck would anyone take advice on how to lose weight from a big fat ass like him?

Look at this idiot trying to cure the mentally ill:

He gets on my nerves as well, and it's hard to take him seriously when he's pimped himself out so much, even satirizing himself in films. I got into a debate with someone once about him, and asked what the big deal with him was -- that every time I saw him talking to someone, it was just plain common sense stuff (and nothing more profound than you hear the police telling crack junkies on "COPS"). The person I was talking to said, "Well that's what I like about him -- he's just straight up common sense", and recommended one of his books to me... :P

I do agree that we have a huge problem with a lack of basic, decent common sense in this country, but if that's all it takes to be a rich pop-psychologist, sign me up! :P

That's because Oprah is a cult... :P Hey, I respect her to high heaven for being such a successful businesswoman, but other than that, she's a little too into self-worship for me. Can't do anything good without ensuring her name is all over it and all the glory goes to her. Who else has the arrogance to put out their own magazine with a picture of themselves on the cover each month? Well, maybe Martha Stewart, also. She's been layin' kinda low, hasn't she? Or am I just not paying attention...?

Opie a cult. No doubt. Her cult will get Obama elected. I have nothing against Obama, just if Opie had Crusty the Clown on, her followers would probably vote him in.
Actually, I like Opie but the people on her show, wow...
I saw this one a few weeks ago where it was Oprah's wish show, or something.
They were giving away items on the show and you'd THINK that they were giving away millions of dollars with the way that the cows in the audience were acting. They got one of those hundred dollar video camers and the women in her audience were bawling... it's just weird.

Shit, I need a MelodicRock for easily lead housewives plan....then I'll pitch it to Oprah and bingo...finally my fortune will be made.

There are several things that irritate the pee out of me about Oprah... Just a few...

1) The way she's always allowed Stedman to be seen as her token man. She's wayyyyy too cool for marriage. He's just convenient, and doesn't make public waves or take any glory from her. He's like a pet "man".

2) The way she puts her name and face on any good things she does... Like the school in Rwanda or wherever it is -- the one with all the scandal going on.

3) The way she acts all "girlfriend" with her audience, when she's so socially separate from them it's not even funny. Great talk show host, though!

4) Her "wish shows" irritate me, because along with dumb shows like Extreme Home Makeover, they are perpetuating that sad myth that loads and loads of money and material things are the key to happiness. Besides, I don't think any of the things she gives away come out of her own very deep pocket. I remember that show where she gave her whole audience a new car or something stupid like that, and it turned out they were all donated, I believe. But she doesn't tell ya that... let's you think she's sharing the wealth!

Be sure to use Bon Jovi or radio cheese-moguls Nickelback to promote your wares, and the housewives will line up! :P

Notice when her guests are black, all the sudden she's 'down' and starts talking all girlfriend, ya'll , etc. I do like her though. At least she's giving something back...

Being totally serious here.
I have lived my life based on the law of attraction and I did not even know it until I saw this movie.
Not a day goes by that I do not see and feel something and bam it happens
The bottom line is simple
You must believe that what you are asking for can really happen.
It has to come from within
Its not wishful thinking like winning the lottery or Perry coming back to JRNY
How many times do you think of someone and then a few hours later you get a call from them or you see them on the street and you say wow I was just thinking of you.
It happens to me almost everyday.
Today I said to myself I see 450 dollars of income coming to me and at 12:30 I got a call for a job
Tonight they came over total bill 460.
No bs

The Secret is real if you know how to apply it.
You can't just wish for things your thoughts have to be in line in what you are asking for.
If you believe in what you are asking for from within it will happen
You can't fool the system you know you don't believe that you are going to win the lottery deep down inside.
So you wont

Thoughts Become Things no doubt about it.

Agree with you 100%, positive thinking and doing is prosperous.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, all that stuff works.
Whatever you put out in the universe you will get back, you can't just wish and want,
you have to live it. That's not to say that bad stuff doesn't happen to good people, but
if you live your life in the best possible clean way that you can it keeps everything
very simple.

Is it actually something like that? Tied to some multi-level marketing farce? I really know nothing about it. When I first heard about it, I thought it was some new rave Christian book like "The Purpose Driven Life". Then after watching a little bit of the video tonight, I figured it has nothing to do with Christianity at all -- sounds like just the next positive thinking scam, and honestly, I was instantly turned off by the dramatic Davinci Code delivery. I'm not one for being manipulated in that way... If I want to see a movie, I'll go rent one. If it's tied to some kind of MLM, that's even worse, and no wonder so many people are talking about it.

I think I officially hate it now without further investigation... haha! :P
