Is this the last chance for Journey?

So much has been said regarding new singer Arnel and what the band have done in past..lipping Augeri and dumping Jeff, that it seems to me this is the last chance for the band.
I am pretty sure the band know it as well to much has been done to upset the fans, for me all the joy i felt for the band is gone and i dont care much now,not sure if i would bother even seeing them play again!
For me Journey is in the past with Perry now, the loyal fanbase has been has been hurt, the official website has all but shut the door on fans/bored housewives and so many people on Journey websites have given up on the band they have become a joke.
Its all down to playing the dirty dozen and hoping to attract the greatest hits crowd to the upcoming shows, if they fail to come then its over for Journey i feel.........you know what i hope it is :(

I will enjoy the recordings and boots that I have from Perry through the JSS era. It's over for me.

If I hear this music live it will be at a FRONTIERS show.

Depends on what they are truly trying to accomplish (as it has all along). If they want commercial success with an emphasis on new music: they blew it. If they want to extend their touring capabilities: they have accomplished it. And if that is all they are trying to do then they could keep this up for a long time....

They're going to have to put out a brilliant, original studio album for me to get back on board. I don't think I'll make it to another Journey show unless they decide to push new music and older cuts with Arnel.. which may not be that likely at all.

I've got other favorite bands that are still out there creating new music and keeping it real. Rush, Toto, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, etc.

You know how you see those baseball card shops around and wonder how could a baseball card shop thrive?
Maybe they are really a front for something else :? just sayin...

JSS was the last chance for some, but I think this line-up with qithout question the last bus out for the guys. Will be interesting.

I concur with Andrew, they really have to make good on this new lineup. If they don't, I can't see how they could recover. Too many people are competely done with them on account of what happened with both Steve A and JSS. Schon's stock is about as worthless as Enron stock right now.

They're going to have to pull of something completely amazing....and a redo album is about the worst thing I can imagine.

Huh? I don't get that post. With ALL due respect to Frontiers (I think JH rocks btw!!!!), it's no comparison at all to the musicianship of Neal, John, Dean and Ross. Arnel CAN sing very nicely, you have to give him that. The only reason I would agree that this may be there last chance is the age factor. Otherwise I'd say this is probably their best talent line up for making "Classic Journey" music in quite a while.

Journey has been over for me for some time now. I was skeptical and not excited about JSS when he first came on board. I think he has a wonderful voice, though, and warmed up to him somewhat during his time with Journey. However....... when he got the ax, that was it, and not necessarily because it was JSS, just because of the fact how many singers can you go through to emulate SP and not become a cover band. Journey just needs to be put to rest and let the legacy live on.

Since 1998 I have spent THOUSANDS traveling across the USA to see Journey. I'd have to count the ticket stubs, at a minimum 40 shows (not counting the Sp days and his solo shows). I have seen the musicianship and I know they are all very talented.

The experience of attending a Journey show was always about having fun with friends and enjoying the music. For me this is not possible with the current state of this band.

When I go to a FRONTIERS show and we have 20 to 30 people form 4 to 6 states in attendance, that is fun - just like the old days.

The Jury is still out on this, I guess we will see when the new material comes out.

I'd have to say this is it, barring an out of left field return of a legend.

The above sums it all up. To rehash any commercial success a band has to evolve.

JSS was they're last chance for me and one I never thought I'd give them after 1997. Now I'm right back where I was in 1997. I don't give a shit what they do. I won't be fooled again.

Chad,Chad,Chad,Journey has evolved so many times lots of us fans out here are simply growing very tired of their antics.Their next evolution will be brought to you folks by GERITOL...yes that will probaly be their next sponsor. As Andrew put it this is their last bus out?Well this fan thinks Neal missed that bus a few months ago starting with letting his frontman take the fall. And unjustly firing another. These guys are just working on their retirement. And as far as new music goes if these guys would've had anything that would have been golden it would've been put out a long time ago.The magic for number one hits are gone.Shame isn't it?Up on top and just quit. The love of making beautiful music is simply gone. And the best they can do is keep singing all the oldies, which have been sang from every little rock group across America and let's not forget about the third world either. So the next best thing out there seems to be a tribute band and only dream what it used to be like. And this doesn"t mean all the band wagon people that just jumped on recently. We hard driven Journey fans we have been there since the 70"s and we are simply just tired of it.

Oh, well your concert expectations are different from mine. When I spend a good chunk of change on a ticket, the last thing I want to do is talk, party with friends, etc. I'll take the Mrs and we'll kick back and keep the eyes and ears glued to the stage! Hell, at the Dallas Rush show security had to remove 6 people around us who were so frickin loud from talking, screaming, the first half of the show. :) lol...

Of course you don't talk to friends etc during the show. WTF. I guess you don't pre-party and post party at all. It's just you and the Mrs. trudging to and from the show. Enjoy your 2008 Journey show.

the question is almost begging for the answer. i think there will be a resurgence of new followers, and a falling out of maybe 50-100.

The last JRNY cd was so fuckin' great they gave it away for free. DISGRACE!

Good luck Friga and Fro on your next CD. Do a Christmas CD while you are at it.

Yea, like put out an album that stands on it's own as a solid collection and
actually 'promote' the album by working 4-5 tracks from it into their nightly sets,
someting they really never did well with the Augeri-era.

You know how its gonna go down. Album will come out w/ much hype from Wal-Mart.
They might gain some attention on AC stations and VH1,
pending how much leverage management decides to throw around,
and then you will be lucky to even hear one song in their live set
that is less than 12 years old.

Uh, no actually they built the price into their ticket sales. They were smart enough to know that people wouldn't buy the piece of crap if given a choice.

Journey's chances are pretty much slim to none at this point. Maybe I'll be completely wrong. Who knows?

Actually they were trying to pull of the "PRINCE" move form the summer before. Prince did the same thing and the RIAA or whoever counted the FREE- w/ticket CD's as actual sales.

Neal has said in an interview that's where he got the idea. Come to find out the rules had been changed after Prince and Journey got ZERO sales counts for those FREE- w/ticket CD's.

I know that the ticket was inflated a few bucks for the CD. Hell, I have at least 10 of them.

Bottom line is Fro did not get the desired effect he was after.
