Hey, today I went to a music store and found the Journey record, Dream after Dream, I never heard of it so I bought it, its mainly instrumental. I am assuming its rare. Any ideas. along with that i bought, Captured, Next, Street Talk, Infinity,Frontiers. All for my record player. Im also assuming next isnt too common, but I could be wrong. But I think Dream after Dream is a gem. Any ideas, comments?

Not really sure about that one but I will congratulate you on some good purchases.Best idea to get the older ones now,that's all we have now.And dream what it used to be like.oh well

Yeh, I definately wish I was born in the time period of all the great rock n roll bands. I'd kill to see Journey when they were in their prime. Since I was born in 89 I missed out on all the great musicians that I couldve gotten into. But since I am a journey fan, collecting these records makes me feel like Im in 1980 waiting for Journeys newest record. its a nice thrill record hunting.

"Dream after Dream" is a Japanese-only release. It was recorded by the Departure-era line-up for a film and definitely captures Journey's progressive side really well. Great find!

"Next" is an awesome record too, the last throes of pre-Perry Journey. If you like "Next" I highly recommend grabbing "Journey" and "Look into the Future." The pre-Perry era is my favorite Journey incarnation.

Good to see another youngster picking up some great taste in music. I'm an '88 guy myself.

I don't really know. I've got Captured, Infinity and Escape on vinyl but I can't see those going for a fortune on Ebay anytime soon.
Dream After Dream I have on cd. I couldn't tell you what it's worth but Destiny and Little Girl are my favorite tracks.

You obviously have great taste in music, so who cares what anybody else thinks. I have Dream after Dream, and as big a fan I am of the band, I've listened to it once. It's not my cup of tea. If you like it, you're more dedicated than I! Good find on that album though...They're few and far between.

It's not rare at all. On CD, it's had no less than 3 or 4 pressings in Japan, and outside of Japan, it was released in the US on LP and cassette back in the day.

I have this album on import vinyl (half speed mastered of course), cassette and compact disc. I love this thing, it's my favorite because I never heard the songs 200 times on FM radio. I used to listen to the instrumental bits for hours...classic!

Yeah Josh & I are quite the happy couple this week! lmao He's here this week to finish guitars for the China Blue album. And doing pretty amazing I might add. We're hoping to finish up tomorrow, and then listen to some of these Ramos/Hugo mixes...we'll see how it all goes. My wife & kids went to NJ until New Years so I have a few days before the kids take back the house!

BTW Josh is an awesome cook, there is more salmon on my plate now than I can possibly eat! With shrimps & broccoli...nice! He's cleaning up now too. I might tell the wife to stay in NJ a bit longer. :lol:

I talked to Josh a couple of years ago a few times about working on my own project, but my priorities changed. He's an extreemly nice guy! Tell him my kitchen's open when he gets done at your house!!! Seriously though, you couldn't ask for a nicer guy to work with! Hope he's been doing well.

Cool find...I love Dream after Dream. I only have the CD - that I had to order as an import. It would be neat to find the LP - just to have - I don't have a record player, but I found some of the other Journey records at thrift stores.

It's probably not a good thing to admit, but I really have no interest in any Journey music that doesn't have SP singing on it. I was given a copy of Arrival, and I tried to listen to it, but it just didn't hook me. I was really looking forward to new music with JSS, though. I guess he's the exception to my 'loonism'...

Someone hooked me up with a VHS of the actual movie at one point. The quality wasn't great, and I don't think it even had english subtitles. I tried watching it but I kept falling asleep. I've always been in awe of that album.

As someone said, it was the soundtrack to a Japanese movie. Out of the 9 tracks, only 3 have SP vocals--Little Girl, Destiny, Sandcastles. The rest are instrumentals. Not everybody's cup of tea, but the music is haunting. SP had the high-range going on those songs, too. When it comes to his singing, it's usually a masterpiece.

I love Neal's solo coming out of Destiny, the combination of keyboards & orchestra, etc. It's one of my favorite instumental passages. The fact that Neal had his dad to the string arrangements for this album also seemed very cool to me.
