In this poll thee are a lot of guitarists who play with emotion but nobody can compete with Carlos Santana, especially his early work: every note seems to tell a story and his use of the sustain is awesome...I made a list with 25 but isnt possible.]There are 20 only.[/list]

I voted for Neal (of course), but where the hell is Steve Lukather??? He's one of the most used, and highest paid studio musicians in the world, on top of being in a little band known as TOTO for 30 years!

If Lukather was on here he just might have gotten my vote.

But, it went to Fro.

There are thousands of guitarists..perhaps a part 2 is necessary but I dont have time now ..in the next year ..Ok...

I voted Schon, but was leaning to Frampton, and had Keith Scott been on there, he would have gotten my vote. People, Neal Schon looked me in the eye and said Scott was the most emotional player he knows of.

I never listened to early Santana, but his later stuff irritates me -- all sounds the same. I thought "Supernatural" was brilliant move to get him modern mainstream attention, but didn't think he should do it again -- But I guess he did something similarly not that long ago, as I recall another team-up single with some chick. The gimmick was old to me by now, and he was the least interesting thing about the song. I haven't listened to anything else from that album, but from the single, it's just like, why is he even in it? He's probably not writing the music... just laying some tired licks down constantly throughout the track, and the song would be better if they removed his overbearing guitar line.

He may be a great guitarist some some awesome older work, but it seems these days he's just riding other people's coattails to stay on radio.

Actually, Don apparently plays lead as well. He originally recorded all the rhythm and lead for the "Dysfunctional" album until the studio convinced George to return, and he of course rerecorded those tracks. Don also originally played lead in the band until George wanted the solos to himself. That was fine with most fans, I'm sure.

Feeling? How about Mark Kendall from Great White... the guy is awesome on stage, and can drag more feeling out of a note than anyone else I've seen live.

Voted for Neal. But it was a real tough call between him and SRV. Good selection of players chosen for this poll. All great players with their own style. Would have pulled a couple of the jazz guys for maybe Lynch, Slash, or Emmit.

Neal Schon and feel... Hmmm. Maybe 25 years ago but all he does is shred now. I would have to say David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. The guy can play a single note and summon more emotion than anyone I have ever heard.

Curious. I know alot of PF fans that claim Gilmour plays with alot feeling. I think the guy is a wonderful player with a great "signature" tone, but I have never understood the emotion (feeling) comments. The only feeling that I can somewhat comprehend is an overall feel of depression/sorrow. Not trying to argue, as everyone has their own tastes and opinions. As for Schon, I agree most of his more heartfelt playing is in the past, but the guy could (and on occasion still does) convey a vast array of different feelings. From romantic, sad, festive, joyous, reflective, etc.

If you are willing, please provide some specific song examples showcasing the differing kinds of "feeling" that Gimour conveys. Again just curious and would be intrested in your responses and adding to the discussion here.

I voted for SRV. For me blues players just have something more in the emotional playing department. I think it is just part of that music. It is also where I think Neal gets a lot of his emotion from.

I agree that Mark Knopfler should have been on this list. I am not a huge fan but he impresses the hell outta me anyway!
