Not in the head like many of you think. My daughter had strep throat this week. Now I am congested and have a sore throat myself.
My plan is to drink all day so I feel better and shut it down early enough so I can make it to work tomorrow. I think that's the best plan of action.

I feel your pain, Ed! I have a 15 month old son, who seems to give me every little germ he ever gets! It's at the point now, where I can actually plan my illnesses based on his illnesses!

Exactly John - the joys of parenting. Mine is 21 months. I end up taking 2 sick days a month, either for my daughter, myself of my wife. Daycare won't let the kid in with a sniffle or a cough.

Get your butt to the doctor and get some antibiotics!!! The last thing we need is for you to infect all of us this weekend!!!

It's only going to get worse and won't start getting better until your kids hit their teens. The worst years I can recall is when the kids are between two and twelve years of age, because that is the age they are putting anything and everything in their mouth, on their hands, etc. And when they catch something, they'll be passing it all off to you. Last weekend I'm in the public bathroom at Borders Bookstore taking a piss and theres a father letting his what looked like seven year old son crawl around on the floor inside the stall they both were in. A few minutes later, I'm browsing through a few magazines in the store and this father comes walking past me with the son in his arms and the kid's poking his fingers in the guys nose and mouth. So there you have it, how lots of germs are spread with kids. And daycare.....look out! One kid gets sick and all the kids are going to be getting sick, and bringing it home to their parents as well.
It's just one of the prices you have to pay for love.

I can truly sympathize with you AR - I've been sick for one solid week. Started with headache and sore throat. Got congested, had a fever, didn't want to eat. Still have the sore throat only now it comes with a cough that won't go away. Finally went to the doctor for antibiotics which I started taking today. This virus is not fun in the least - haven't been this sick in years. Really knocks you out. And... I had a flu shot too. Glad to see that didn't work. I hate this time of the year............

Exactly. Not only socks, but full length sweats and a t-shirt as well, and wrap up in a nice thick blanket. Sleep it off and when you wake up, you'll be sweating but you've killed the bug by baking it off. That's one of the ways the natural body works.

I hope you're feeling better, AR! Let me tell you, the best way to ward off the illnesses from the kiddos is to spend several years as an elementary school teacher. You catch everything the first few years, then your immune system kicks into high gear. If I catch anything that my daughter brings home, it's pretty mild. My poor husband now catches all of these illnesses unless he really stays away from her. I can cuddle her and take care of her without catching a thing!

Brandy and port is what you need. Get a very large wine glass (one which holds about two or three three normal glasses of wine) and put a double shot of brandy in it. Then fill it up with port. The port is a temporary antiseptic and will sort your thoat. The brandy will cover the pain up and get rid of the rest of the bug.

I recommend the same, except without the onions, garlic, ginger and lemon.
And instead of gargling, just swallow it. Pretty soon you'll feel nothing but better.
Except without the "better" part.
