I wonder what Steve Perry's thoughts are on Arnel Pineda....

.....and the overall state of Journey affairs right now? Do you think he cares? Ya think Neal and Jon sent him an advance copy of the upcoming NEW album? I'm sure Steve will have nothing to say publicly, but it'd be interesting nonetheless, to read his response in an interview, if he chose to answer some of these questions.

Steve Perry will be "spinning around in a spell" when he hears their 2008 plans!!! THAT I can say with certainty.

Over the years he's directly commented, at least to my recall, exactly twice on Journey vocalists since his departure.

Once was his reply when asked on his toughts on Augeri dedidicating his Red13 performance to him:

"With all due respect my my memories of Journey remain locked in our time together" or some other less-than-charitable reply

and another time to take a blast at Augeri as "a sound-alike or whatever he is"

Other than that he keeps pretty mum.

If Chalfant brought him out of hiding, I'm sure surprised Arnel hasn't. Unless... well, you know.

He probably thinks the same thing of Arnel that he thought of Augeri and Soto: "Yawn!".

Honestly, I think Perry has moved so far on he couldn't care less about the singer du jour, no matter how talented.

If you are divorced from someone long enough do you really care anymore? doubt it.

Oh, I think he cares, but only for the Journey legacy, which is and has been in his corner since he left. But I think he's so disgusted with what the two knotheads have done to the Journey name, he just doesn't bother anymore. I would hope that he is comfortable with the fact that he will go down in history as Journey's frontman. How could he not when ten years after the fact and three lead singers later, he still cannot get away from the fame of Journey. "Journey" will always be Neal Schon and Steve Perry.

I think Perry is WAY beyond being mad, hearing about a nostalgia, oldies concert coming to a local state fair. Let's not forget that Perry sold out 20K seat arenas and larger, while he was with Journey. The fact that they're "packing in" 5,000 people to listen to the songs that his voice made famous probably makes the guy laugh. I think as a fan of music, he probably thinks Arnel has a great singing voice. I just don't think Perry has ever felt ANY connection to the guys who have called themselves Journey since he departed the band. As I've said before, Perry looks better, with each dopey move Journey makes. Remember, they are trying to imitate HIS sound much more so than they've ever tried moving on without him! I think the facts speak for themselves, and much more so now, than ever before!

Absolutely correct, John. You always have a distinct way of saying things right to the point without sounding quite as sarcastic as some of the rest of us, me included.

Dude. I'm tired of seeing this posted everywhere. There's a far cry difference between Journey moving on with new singers, and Elvis impersonators. It's quite the reach man.

This raises the question who would sell more seats say in 2008 the current line up of Journey or Perry on a solo tour? I think Perry would out draw Journey.

Perry would because of the "rare event" but I think it would be close to equal otherwise. Besides, last time Perry toured (already a 'rare event') he was playing 5-8,000 seat venues (in most places) and not all of them sold out.

Yeah, if it wasn't for short ol' Neal doing some coke off his ex-wife's nipple to celebrate his successful malpractice suit against the plastic surgery firm where they shred too much (speaking of which, I hate the Escape album, way too much guitar) of his afro off, he'd see that Steve Perry is the TRUTH. Hey, that's what he gets for getting his plastic surgery in a sweatshop where they serve Pembroke Welsh Corgi as an appetizer.

After all, when bashing Schon/Cain for "whoring" the Journey name because they need money, isn't it fashionable to point out that perry was the uber-shrewd, super-savvy, ever-sharp businessman who wrangled so much band control from Neal that Schon's head spun in '98 when they asked to be able to move on?
