From Wikipedia...

On February 14, 2006 the Western Standard drew the attention of the Muslim community by reprinting the controversial editorial cartoons depicting Muhammad, the founder of Islam.

Levant republished the Muhammed cartoons on his website in January 2008 on the same day he appeared before a hearing of the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission investigating a complaint by Syed Soharwardy of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada about Levant's earlier publication of the cartoon. Additionally, Sowharwardy has filed a complaint with Calgary police about Levant saying he fears for his safety because of "lies" he says Levant has been spreading about him claiming Levant is inciting hatred. Police said they were actively investigating the complaint.

Levant was called before the Human Rights Commission and asked to respond to the complaint.

This kind of thing is happening more and more in Canada, which is following suit from Europe. Hopefully, we aren't headed the same direction but I fear we are.

Well, you never have had to speak English and you shouldn't have to if you don't want to. However, if you want to be part of the culture then, yeah, you should speak English and I do believe that it should be recognized as the official language.

Are you supposed to? There is NO official language in the USA, but I do get your point.

Agreed 100%. I lived in four European countries in the 70's and 80's, and that was before English was mandatory in most classrooms. I had to go to high school in West Germany and Norway, and I had to learn those new languages as well as the subjects. No-one threw out a welcome mat for me.
