Weird Music Related Coincidences

Anyone have any strange music related coincidences to report?

I read on another bulletin board about a guy who went to see his friend in NY City. He gets off the subway and has his Ipod with him. He decides to hit shuffle play and listen to some tunes while waiting for his friend. The first song that played was a Dream Theater song. He no sooner starts listening, looks up, and to his amazement Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater is standing right in front of him with his family in tow. The guy tells Mike what just happened and Mike says "Maybe if you hit shuffle play again and a Beatles song comes on you will meet Ringo Starr! :D

My personal story is that I was listening to the radio on the way home from work one day and "Magic Man" by Heart comes on the radio just as I stop at a red light. I look at the car in front of me and the license plate said "HEART"

One time I was in the car with my son listening to "There's Only One Way to Rock", and when Sammy said "Check the hands on the clock, it's 8:05 it's time to rock", my kid said "Look what time it is."

It was 8:05.

I was listening to "Faithfully" on my way to work, and a Service Van with this logo drove by me:

I might pick someone else for a chance encounter... I'd just read this a few days ago:

Ringo: P.S. I Don't Care

One of the two surviving Beatles, Ringo Starr, was in a pissy mood last night -- refusing to stop for photos or sign a single autograph in New York.

I was driving down the road on my way to my friend's house whilst listening to "Leave That Thing Alone." As I turned onto her road I passed a car and I looked up in the rear view... and saw that their license plate read "RUSH YYZ." Niiiiice.

LOVE that instrumental! "Counterparts" was the last Rush album that I completely dug. Ever since then, I've had much more of a hard time with them, though I do like all of them. Maybe it was because "Counterparts" was more melodic.

I think it was somebody on this forum posted that they were in the gym listening to Faithfully (or something) on their IPod and Steve Perry walked past them.

If that was me i think i would of died.

Counterparts is certainly one of their finest post-Moving Pictures albums. I rarely listen to anything from Test for Echo, but love both Vapor Trails and Snakes & Arrows.

Test for Echo bores me.. I wonder what Rush would be like had Neil Peart had not suffered through his personal tragedies, and didn't have that 7 year hiatus. If Test for Echo is any sign... *shudder*

(Disclaimer: I like T4E. It's just the worst Rush album, I think.)

Seems we are in agreement... I simply could not get into Test For Echo as an album at all, though I really loved the title track as well as "Driven" -- both great songs. It just sounded like an attempt to return to stripped-down Rush roots, except without the melody and qualities that made the originals so interesting.

I also enjoy "Vapor Trails", and songs like "Earthshine" really sound like the OLD Rush! :P Believe it or not, I actually have a Karaoke version of "One Little Victory", and it was very nicely done! My biggest complaint with that album was it was just very BASSY overall... Sounded muddled to me.

"Snakes & Arrows" had to grow on me, and I'm still not completely enamored with it -- it's almost like a cross between V.T. and T4E in the way that it affects me, I guess. I did finally start to really enjoy it, but the songs just didn't stick in my memory, so I really can't instantly recall them to mind... that's a sign to me...

If you know the setlist from Perry's 94 tour, you'll appreciate this one... and I swear it's true.

Those of you with satellite radio know of the "artist alert" feature - it beeps to let you know your stored artist is playing and on which channel. Artist alert beeped one day about a week or two ago, and the artist/song was Journey, "I'll Be Alright Without You".

Partway through, another beep... another channel was playng "Cupid".

Weird music stuff like that happens to me all the time. The other day I made a comment somewhere about liking Street Talk a whole hell of a lot better than FTLOSM. And I swear, someone or something decided to make me pay for that because the same day, iPod got pissed at me and though it was supposed to be shuffling, I swear it pulled up every track from FTLOSM. *bjg learns to keep trap shut*

I had this happen with Sammy too. When 'Eagles Fly' came on the radio and he said 'it's Sunday morning 9 am' ..it was.. :)

Deb wins!!!!

Heck I was shocked just watching the youtube footage of that event! 8)

A couple months ago I was at work and I was listening to Journey on my i-pod *sigh* while walking from one building to another. My cell rings; "Separate Ways" a second later another girl walks up behind me and her phone rings; "Don't Stop Believin".
We stopped and chatted for a while. 8)

A couple days ago I was in the car and my Bon Jovi "Crossroads" cd was in the stereo. So I listened to that for a bit and after "Lay Your Hands on Me" I thought I'd switch to the radio just to see what was playing. I heard the last bit of a commercial and then "You Give Love A Bad Name" came on which would've been the next song to play on my cd. :P

one day..

...after a bad morning yelling at my (then, 4 teenagers) to clean the house, and stop being so damn mean (to me, and each other); I hauled my depressed self out to the car to head for work, I started the engine, and tried to calm down a bit. OK, I say to myself, what ever song comes on the radio, will be my guide for today.
I flip on the radion and I am "treated" to G'n'R's "Knocking On Heaven's Door".
I didn't know whether to laugh, cry or drive into a brick wall!
I "hate" message radio!!!
