Just watching the Houston DVD, son is at day care and have it cranked up !

We all know this but t must be said again..Awesome show !!!

3 questions
1) who is singing the really high notes on Where Were You during th chours, they are really high

2) Perry is using a cordless mike in this show, on his solo and ROR tour I think he used a mike with a cord, do any of the singers out there have a preference over which is better? Im sure in 1981 this was new to alot of singers.

3) Did they play : The partys over" at the show and just not put the footage on the dvd and if anybody knows why..I really like that song.

My one thought is here we are in 2008 and having seen Journey over the last 10 years or so we come to expect to hear most of th Escape tracks at a show. Those folks in 1981 had know clue as to how popular those songs would become and they were probaly hearing them live for the first time. 27 years later DSB is still standing tall.

I believe that Journey played two shows, and they only recorded audio of the first one. They didn't play The Party's Over the night they were filming.

You are probably right that it was new technology. I am sure there was a sense of freedom that the cordless mike gave Perry, allowing him to work the crowds even better. But I wouldn't be surprised if the sound suffered a little. Plus there is the chance of glitches due to the frequencies used. So many artists seem to have returned to the corded equiptment. Neal even went back to the corded guitar. Add to that the smaller stage sizes Perry played on the FTLOSM tour and there was likely little need for a cordless. Economical as well.

I read somewhere that the concert was originally taped specifically for MTV (I remember when it aired - god I am old) and that they packed up their video before the end of the show to beat the rush out or something. They continued rolling the audio for The Party's Over and used it for the credits, just like the DVD. It was a long time ago so don't take this as gospel, but that's my recollection.

Nope - 2 different shows. SP said that in some interview or Q&A... the day that wasn't shot happened to be the day they played that one. The 1st show on 11/5/81 was audio only and that's where Party's Over came from (regardless of what the credits in the dvd say - I believe that's a typo).

A few of the audio tracks from 11/5/81 are on Greatest Hits Live... AWYWI, Lights/Stay Awhile, Escape, LTS.
That's where Party's Over was played.

11/6/81 is what you hear and see on the DVD.
