Seems as though tonight's show (2-24)was canceled because someone fried the transformer and/or equipment. Bummer.

Nah, I'll leave that garbage for the bitter folks unable to accept change.

However, I readily admit that the catalog can, and in most cases will, do damage to the voice over the long term.

Wow - Tour Handbook Basics 101 - Chapter One. Check voltage!
And how can this be a problem tonight, but not the first night?? Disappointing for fans.

Man...that sucks.

I hope somehow they can re-schedule this. I'm sure people waited a LOT of years for them to come there.

"because in Chile they had 220v and their equipment was in 110v (US standard)"
That sounds too fishy. These guys have played abroad in the past, it's common knowlage about the voltage difference. That's just too easy to blame it on the voltage difference. hmmm... And like Andrew said, why didn't the problem surface the first show? hmmm....

how bout death threats? lol.
setting aside the humor, we only have wild speculations other than the busted equiptment alibi as mentioned by the group. it may sound fishy of a reason but the fact that shit does happen when you least expect it. besides, it's not that easy to turn down a lot of people who went all that way and waited just to see Journey. as a fan, I had one instance that a particular band failed to perform due to some quite pathetic alibi, but was in fact true. the only frustrating thing about it is that I made the reservations for it, 2 months in advance. they did came back and perform some months later as to redeem themselves. I also hope that Journey would do the same in the near future.

If this were true I would not think it would be a reason to cancel a show. I would think these guys would have the resources to secure backline and PA on the road in whatever situation arises. The only case I could think where this could be a catastrophe is if Cain's rig went down and he lost a hard drive or something.

the only way to know what really happened is to ask the person who posted that cancelled concert vidclip, since it is apparent that he/she was in the scene of the crime. you can also ask if how many people were there.
come to think of it, I believe even if there were back up equiptments available, they would not be of excellent choice or condition. maybe they don't have enough equiptment at all. I forgot the name of that band which performed in front of the Queen of England, where they played with a sub-standard equiptment provided to them. man, they suck because of it.

Fishy to me. Anyone that knows a roadie knows that part of the first order of business is to check the incoming ac, setup backups, etc, etc.
The difference in voltage would have a standard issue to deal with.
It sounds as if this is an excuse for something else.

Roadies screw up just like everyone else. There are standard things to check in my line of work as well and I can certainly tell you that not everyone does what they are supposed to.

No, realist. Sound problems, equipment problems, current problems, this excuse, that escuse, the other excuses have been pouring forth from this band ever since that lousy performance on the CBS Early Show.

Unless the roadies were blind drunk or stoned... they would have known what the voltage was. And were
all the roadies blind drunk & stoned to the point that none of them could figure it out? Yeah... agreed. Excuse is on shaky ground.

MAYBE....
Perry called them up and said he felt like "being in Journey" again. They must be in a secret location as we speak...rehearsing with SP and getting ready for their triumphant return!!!
Yeah...that's it!

Because there was a shooter on the grassy knoll.

Seriously though, I think theories get thrown out here because most of them end up being true. It's only grassy knoll stuff if it turns out false. All the tape gate speculation, firings, etc ended up to be true. So people wonder.
The new guy sang a couple Journey songs every so often. Now he has the pressure of singing ALL Journey songs more than once. No one at this point can say how they will do. It's an unknown. I know one thing for a fact - this catalog will shred your voice over time.

Was it "Sound" equipment that got fried
or the FOH teleprompters scrolling the song lyrics for Arnel that got fried???

Yeah...that's it!

Perry was there! (Look @ 1:00:03 of the festival video.)
He got sad, and changed his mind about being back on stage.
Either that, or he's pi$$ed about all the bad lyrics.
I like this theory...
later~

That is disappointing to the Chile fans...I hope they more than make it up to them - seems like they've waited a long time to see Jrny.

Maybe they canceled because some psychotic Journey fan who thinks it's 1981 is sending threatening emails to them to not use the new guy.
Crews sometimes have to hire crew members in every town they play in. Usually, this is the case. If one of those crews or members was inexperienced with US voltage, they could've EASILY blown the band's gear or a critical piece of it. Dang that SUCKS. Guitar amps can easily be replaced. Keyboard and Computer tracks/sequences cannot be easily replaced. However, you'd think that they'd have extra's of those as well.
But I know what it really is! I think it means Perry's rehearsing with them!
