Mother Jones magazine has compiled a playlist of tracks that have been used during torture sessions in American military prisons, including songs by Metallica, Eminem, Christina Aguilera, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, David Gray, Rage Against the Machine and others. The tracks have all been played by guards and interrogators in inducing sleep deprivation, "prolonging capture shock," disorienting detainees during interrogations, and/or drowning out screams. The "Torture Playlist" is based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and on info from soldiers and detainees.
Here's the list (in no particular order):
"F*** Your God" - Deicide
"Die MF Die" - Dope
"Take Your Best Shot" - Dope
"White America" - Eminem
"Kim" - Eminem
"Barney Theme Song" - Barney
"Bodies" - Drowning Pool
"Enter Sandman" - Metallica
Meow Mix TV commercial
Sesame Street theme song
"Babylon" - David Gray
"Born in the USA" - Bruce Springsteen
"Shoot to Thrill" - AC/DC
"Stayin' Alive" - Bee Gees
"All Eyes on Me" - Tupac
"Dirrty" - Christina Aguilera
"America" - Neil Diamond
"Bulls on Parade" - Rage Against the Machine
"American Pie" - Don McLean
"Click Click Boom" - Saliva
"Cold" - Matchbox Twenty
"Swan Dive" - Head P.E.
"Raspberry Beret" - Prince

What a list. I imagine it only takes one listening to the Barney theme song to get detainees to completely spill the beans. Luckily my daughter didn't get into Barney, but she did love the Teletubbies. That theme song should be on the list, too. I can still sing that song--it's permanently etched into my brain.

I'm suprised that I didn't see any of Bjork's "music" on that list. They should use that damn Head On commercial, too. It's not music, but it is torture. I'm a little offended to see the Bee Gee's though, as I actually like alot of their music. They should add the MMM song by Crash Test Dummies to their repertoire. I'm sure Deano would have Dokken tracks playing constantly

(no offense, Rip!)!

They should pipe in some Schon, Cain, and Valory on lead vocals! After listening to that shit, those fuckers would be looking for a rock to crawl under! They could always just play "Generations"
John from Boston

The entire "This Left Feel Right" cd by Bon Jovi would be used if it weren't against the Geneva Convention.

Not even a little bit. "Trampled Under Foot" is their only song I like.

"Send in the Clowns" covered by Peter Criss on his last "masterpiece". Good Lord that was painful. I surrendered and I wasn't even being held captive.

Oh boy that brings back memories - I have had the exact same experience !
Deano, we didn't go to boot camp the same place did we? I was in the US Navy and experienced boot camp in Orlando Florida.
I had that song played to me numeroust times (I actually still like it- amazingly!!)
Hated boot camp- The only consolation was that that was where the women also went to boot camp. If you got assigend to the galley during work week , at least you could have some fun in the meat locker!!!!

No offense dude, but Navy boot camp is nothing compared to Army which is nothing compared to the Marines.
I was at Ft Benning, Georgia. Fuckin South. Necks everywhere. Copperheads, cottonmouths, rattlers, spiders all that fuckin humidity. I hated it. Fuckin pouring down rain, so what are we to do? Go on a 15 mile road march in full BDU's and packs. Christ, I was in good shape then though.

It's not all
that bad. However, there's not much voluntary movement in the hudmidity... so I can imagine why boot camp plus Southern climate would piss you off. That wonderful feeling that you're sweating glue and not breathing the air so much as you drink it. (I can't wait for summer!)

Anything by Cannibal Corpse would be perfect torture music. I don't care for them and have read their lyrics and got sick to my stomach just from that.

Me too. And I've probably watched it a grand total of twice.......once to watch the concert and once to play poker with the boys (bonus feature).

You got farther than I did.

I could NOT even get through the first song.

I have no idea what else is on it because I haven't tried to watch it again. Just can't do it.

I think this whole thread is based on a shaky foundation. We are Americans, and therefore we don't torture anyone. I heard that from the President hisself.

I hope you're joking. We absolutely DO torture people. We still use waterboarding. Look it up. It's sickening.

Most conservatives think waterboarding is allowable and, while it has led to some useful information from terrorists, I don't think we should be doing it.
While proponents of it say that it doesn't physically harm the person, the article on this from Wikipedia appears to say that it can lead to death. I could definitely see where it might give someone a heart attack.

I would love to see Bush, Cheney, Mukasey, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz all experience it.
It's fucking hypocritical for us to bitch and whine when our soldiers get tortured, yet it's "ok" if we do it.
Fucking Conservatives.
