Which Band Has More Drama - Journey or Van Halen?

It seems that both Journey and Van Halen have enough drama to create a soap opera that could run for years and years. I'm not sure which one has more drama. What do you think, and what are your reasons?

Having close encounters with the fan base from both bands - JOURNEY wins!

Journey's history since '96 is a cacophany of lame excuses, bad business decisions, and back-stabbing. More along the soap opera type of plot line.
Van Halen's last ten years are more of a Machiavellian / Shakespearean tragedy along the lines of Othello. The only thing missing is somone's tragic demise.
I voted for VH.

I think Van Halen. With Journey, most of the drama is amongst the fans.

No way! At least Journey's musicians are professional enough not to push amp cabinets over on each other during a show... haha! And Eddie's alcholism... nothing close to that in Journey, or nothing that is known anyway.

No way VH.
Journey has fans that actually care and give a shit. Journey fan has soul.passion and character. Even if we don't ever agree, we all share a common goal and steel....we all care and we all give a damn.
Seriously folks, there are factions within the factions....I see it as plain as day. This band has touched lives far deeper than Van Halen could ever do. Maybe it's the music? maybe it's the words? Maybe it' the emotion from Perry, or Neal? This band for all it's troubles, still touches us all. Yes, even Andrew, even the dissenters, even me, even Jeff Scott Soto.
Somethin' special about Journey.
Journey has something that VH and other's don't.
It's infectious.
I am proud to be a Journey fan. Not proud of everything they have done, but damn, there is some magic......

Are we speaking of the band's or of their fans. Hard to believe but they are two different topics in terms of drama.

Some people don't think it's possible to love both Diamond Dave and Sammy.
My opinion: Van Hagar (if there had never been a Van Halen) would have still been the greatest American hard rock band ever. VH was just a LITTLE bit better - much different, mind you...
Anyway, it's all over. A musician friend of mine tipped me off over a week ago, and I didn't believe his source was the real deal. Now I'm out $20 bucks.

I thought we were talking about which bands had more drama. VH hands down, but if you are talking about fans, Journey, no question.

My friend's source is saying this cancellation is a personal issue related to Edward's health.
Speculation that perhaps his cancer has returned seems to be spreading in some camps.

In both cases you either love them or you love to detest them.
Again in both cases I think all members have their own personal agendas - everything (music/fans) is secondary.

Rip, I really think Dave, Sam, and Mike never had any agendas. They just loved their jobs and loved the music. Let's face it...there was no greater songwriter or innovator between 1977 and 1992.
Alex was trudging along in his brother's footsteps. Ed always struck me as the one with all sorts of issues and agendas.

I read the same thing. Something like 60% in one ear and 40% in the other.

I'm not sure where people are basing that Journey fans are more, or deeper, or better, or more passionate, or more following..etc..than VH fans.
Don't base it on just this site and the attention the Journey section gets here opposed to the VH one.
Van Halen, EVH, and DLR have tons of web sites that gets huge hits and post every single day and have for years.
Most of the talk here is just at each other where the sites I mentioned above are about the band and it's members.
Maybe Journey fans are more emotional about what they believe in overall..but from what I read on all the sites..VH fans are more into what's up with the band and don't steer to far off that in convo.
I'm not sure why people think Journey fans are more into it or more passionate.
As far as I know..this is the only real place to talk about Journey.
If it were true that Journey fans are more than VH..why aren't there more sites that relate to Journey like VH has? And most of them are made by the fans. They are just sites related to VH..not many things.
There are so many more VH related fan forum active sites out there than Journey..created by VH fans. These many sites are all very active everyday. Not just when VH is doing something.
Are there trading communities just for Journey like VH has? Created by the fans? That are active..hardcore no matter if the band is touring or not.
If I was a stranger to VH or Journey and looked around the net..I would have to say VH wins..the rest is just opinion.

The way I read the poll, it is asking which
band has more drama in it, not which fanbase is the most passionate or obsessive or which fans lives were forever changed by one of the songs. Damn. just pick one.

In your eyes...that is a pretty narrow minded and self centered statement. Not that you would do anything differently than normal.....

Journey has something "else" in my eyes too, and many others. I love VH, they're one of my top ten favorite bands, but they just don't have the "else" that Journey does.

Van Halen - Eddie's the biggest drama queen of any rock band.

Brett over at VHlinks says he has a source that says Eddie went back to rehab a week ago.

Well, I like both bands too, but everyone is touched differently by music. Just because you or Dean think Journey is more special does not make it so.

They should have never let Eddie out of rehab as early as they did.

Yeah, but I can't even count the times anymore, when I read the numerous fan VH related web sites, how many people were inspited to play guitar because of EVH.
By the way..The Roth Army fan site has like 24,500 members and gets tons of post daily, and not just when VH or DLR are doing something. VH fans have stayed in it too.
I love Steve Perry, but does he have a fan site with that many members who post tons daily?
Van Halen links has like a million four hundred thousand post since 1999 with almost 17,000 members who post tons daily.

Bad hearing + certain other "health issues" yes...not cancer though. Just the usual!
