Last sunday I went to Sao Paulo to see Iron Maiden. The 42000 tickets sold out three months ago. The show was planned to start at 8pm. Before the show a local radio station was playing rock tunes, so at 7:55pm, Don't Stop Believin started to play at the PA's. The crowd reaction was awesome. I started to cry when I saw the audience singing the song. That was basically an heavy metal audience and they were singing JOURNEY!!!!
It was a good surprise!!!

Why does this surprise you? Journey is still the band that people "hate to love". I mean...look around. ;)

Could also be a translation slip up.

Cry
- to call loudly; shout; yell
- to utter or pronounce loudly; call out
- clamor; outcry.

But back on topic, we're seeing a lot of international interest in Journey in areas they haven't toured in a while if ever.

I've heard of Rush in Rio and Queen as well, but don't think Journey's ever played it. Correct me if I'm wrong. Contrary to what many are saying, as long as AP's voice and contract holds up, I think they'll be in worldwide demand as long as they want to tour.

Let me help you...I cried...tears rolled down from my eyes!!! It's normal, I'm 34...Jrny fan since 87...and still waiting for a chance to see them live. For many years I believed that Brazil wasn't a market for Jrny...but that crowd (they were headbangers) made up my mind....

These are the bands/artists that are visiting us:

Mar 07 - Dream Theater
Mar 08 - Bob Dylan
Mar 21 - LA Guns
Apr 03 - Ozzy, Black Label Society & Korn
Apr 17 - Helloween & Gamma Ray
Apr 26 - Tyketto, White Lion & House of Lords
May 07 - Whitesnake
May 08 - Queensryche
May 31 - Jeff Scott Soto & Jimi Jamison

I stand corrected. You've got to catch Tyketto and Jeff Scott Soto's shows. Word is Journey's former lead, Augeri is singing with Tyketto. Not sure if he'll be at that show but should be a good one nonetheless.

A good friend of mine flew down to Brasil to see that Maiden show...just got an E-mail this morning and he said it was amazing! My buddy's not a very big fan of Journey however and I'm constantly getting razzed about it. I'll have to ask him what came across his mind when he heard Don't Stop Believin' before the show... :P

I think most rock fans 'our age' like Journey. I think that critics didn't. Who cares about them???
:)

I always like when I hear favorite songs or bands before a show and the crowd goes apeshit.
I consider it validation!
:)

Danny Vaughn is back singing with Tyketto- on his website that hes going to Brazil. That said, it wouldnt be a suprise if Augeri turned up and sang a bit with them- as from what I know , they all are on pretty friendly terms
