Love that guy. He was great.

Tell me you don't love Country Roads.

Perhaps John should have taken the train instead of flying.

Froy you're a strange, strange dude.

Having said that, I appreciate your post. John Denver is one of those fabric of America fuckers.

Thanks for the post.

My favorite is Annie's Song. One of the most romantic songs ever...."let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms", really beautiful lyrics throughout. Great writer, he was.

"The radio reminds me of my home far away" 8)

Many lines in his song that hit the heart/soul. It was the words along with the way he sang them.

Aren't there a few people here who say they 'live' the John Denver life?

let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter
let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you
let me always be with you

Not as if we had a chance to watch anything else.. :P that's why everyone knows those shows and others from that era so well..not much choice in those days as what to watch.

I remember we had this huge floor tv in our bedroom and it had a remote..this was like in 1982 or so..but have to laugh now at a couple of things. What..three channels to choose from..as if needed the remote..and the remote was this huge box that just had a metal clicker on it.

Too funny and unfortunately, too true. Kids today have it made. Can you imagine our kids having to "dial" a phone?

Shoot..I am old enough to have even recorded off the radio to a eight track and some of them don't even know what a record is..and how cool they were..to buy it..open it and look at the artwork and lyric sleeve while playing it.. 8)

See..that's what I am talking about..didn't even like that show much..but watched it because it was what was on.
It still is crazy sometimes to think about then and now. I am now a frickin' surfin' freak..then I think back to when remotes weren't even necessary.
Every single night at dinner I remember my step dad would have Hogan's Hereos on the little dinner tv. Every time I see that show now I feel like I must chow down..

So many shows I could list from the 70's that I cannot even stand to watch today..but watched then because it's what was on.

At the age of five, learned how to play guitar because of John Denver. Journey and John Denver - two of my major influences.

A true legend. I remember my mother telling me when she found out, she is another JD fan, sad way to go out like that.

One of my fave JD songs. My mom took me to see him twice when I was like 9 or 10 years old. Before one show I had been so sick, fever and all, but there was no way I was NOT going. LOL I remember laying down in the back seat of the car on the way to the show and on the way back, and having to go to the first aid room during the show because I felt like I was going to throw up.

I was married in 1979 and my entire wedding was all John Denver songs - acoustic.

My kids laugh, but it was beautiful!

A truly talented artist who left us way too soon. Cyndy & I did contract work for his tour manager doing tour itineraries off and on for over 10 years. Saw several shows and met him a couple of times. He was just about to be signed to a label when he died. I think he would have made a serious comeback. When I heard on the news that his plane went down, I was devastated. He did so much for music and also for the wildlife and the environment. One of those one in a million kind of guys.

It wasn't exactly the flying part, it was the plane he was in, an experimental plane which was pretty dangerous because it's small and when it looses power, it falls pretty fast, very very shitty glide slope. The first time I saw the type JD was killed in was in 1981. Back then that type of plane was called a "Quicky" because you could assemble it in a matter of days, if not hours. It was a pre-fabricated kit. I think the real reason they called them Quickies is because shit goes wrong really quick if your not careful and if it does go wrong, your assed out unreasonably quick, as was the case with JD.
