VH1: STATION FIRE BENEFIT

A great cause. One of the saddest moments in rock history.
I was always a huge fan of Great White but find it hard to stomach that the guys are walking around on the streets...but that's a different topic.

Anyone watching?

Tesla: What's up with Jeff Keith sounding like Cartman? Is he okay?

Eric Martin: good performance, terrible background vox

Stryper + Boston: EEEWWW! Bad. Just awful.

Gretchen Wilson: A complete beast singing Heart tunes. Simply amazing doing "Straight On." I wish she'd do a complete album of Heart tunes.

Don't prejudge on the first poster that said "Stryper + Boston: EEEWWW! Bad. Just awful"
What in the hell were you on when you were watching..for "EEEWWW! Bad. Just awful"
I wasn't even going to respond to your post..but as I sit here shaking my head..we must have been watching two different shows for you to make such f'n blatant strong comments like that about their performance.. :? :? :? :? :? :? :? or are you just another who enjoys bashing Stryper becasue they are Stryper.

Outside of Gretchen Wilson covering Heart..Stryper with Tom/Pihl was the best of what got aired tonight..

Yea that's it!

Here's an even better vid!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AjCf3IX ... re=related

I was not a huge fan of it, but I think they performed a little different than the Boston/original way. Listening to the drumming, etc. It was the Stryper way, with Tom & Gary. Therefore, I am still hopeful for Boston 08 with Michael.

youtube doesn't do vids justice for me..when I first saw this on youtube..it wasn't that great..watching it on tv..muich better

I had to laugh when Tesla opened up..first how the lead singer sounded..then when the camera went to the 'double' guitar player..he either looked stoned or was wondering what he was doing on stage with a voice like that.
Don't get me wrong..I have always liked Tesla and he even said he wasn't feeling well.

I never expected it to sound as good as Brad..no one is going to touch him on Boston songs. Cannot repeat that sound.

This song is going to be Stryper's first release off their new album..they Stryperized it.

Funny/cool..whatever..neither Stryper nor Boston..especially Boston are hardly ever on the tele. Cool that out of four hours total..and being only a hour got aired..not counting commercials..talking..that they got on. Cool..two of my fav bands..plus playing together.

I enjoyed it and was grinning ear to ear..and that's all the matters.. :P nice way to end Easter..not go give damnit..

Still MIND BLOWING that 100 people died!!

Michael and Tom on stage together..SWEET.. :P 8)

That was is sort of it..it was from VH1.com then put on youtube..the one I posted above was recorded off tv from tonight..then put on youtube. Quality may be a bit better.
Again..I just have never judged youtube for anything..the sound tonight on tv was so much better..proof again.

Personally I like it. Michael's a great singer and he adds his own touch to it......not trying to replicate Brad's voice. Kind of like Jeff was with Journey.

EXACTLY!! You get it.. 8)
I never expected it to sound as good as Brad..I knew Michael would be singing it 'metal' style if you will.
It also was arrnanged as it will be on the new Stryper album..which Tom played on for the song.. 8) They Stryperized it.
Still pinching myself that Stryper was just on tv..Tom too..funny thing is I think Stryper has been on tv more than Tom.. :P

I recorded the whole show to dvd and I am watching the Stryper/Boston performance again.. :P and after hearing that the whole show was actually like four hours..and VH1 only aired one hour..plus figure in lots of commercials and talking..amazing that Stryper's made the cut..wait..Stryper was just on tv.. :?
Fine..yeah..I'm a very excited pussy geek..for us Stryper fans..ALL of this is a HUGE deal..I am sure the fact that they played with Tom..or that Tom played them helped big time that they got on tv.

Eric Maritin..I swear I had not seen him since the ..to be with you.. vid and had to double take how diff he looks without that crazy long perm.. looked so much better.

Loved hearing Michael, but I was more excited about Eric Martin! Now that's a voice! Just wish he'd done more than that song. Did they all do more than one?

Nope just the one..I still was trippin' watching him with the diff hair because as I stated above I seriously had not seen him since the famous vid with that crazy long permed hair.

Tesla was the only one who sang two. Ashame too because he was really not doing to well tonight.

True, I normally like Jeff's voice, but wow.....it definately sounded very high and scratchy there.

I was hoping you were watching! It was cool seeing Gary Hoey backing him up on acoustic guitar too. Gary Hoey Band played Fret Fest this year with Alcatrazz - very cool. Eric Martin wasn't there though.

I imagine they will replay it ad nauseum like they do every other show.

She IS amazing singing Heart! 8) She performed "Barracuda" on VH1 Rock Honors last year and blew everyone away.

What a shitty lineup for such a terrible tragedy. You'd think some "A listers" would've stepped up to the plate. I caught a snippet of Boston and they've never sounded worse.

jeff and most of the band were suffering from broncidus, saw him the next night and he sounded better but was still sick.
and i must agree i didnt like the stryper/boston preformance, but remember that this wwas abenefit show, with most likely no soundcheck, and poor monitor mixes for the guys to hear, give michael a week of rehearsals and that beautiful boston mix and i believe he will be much better. these live shows never get a good mix, thats why kiss/frampton and just about everybody else touched up thier live lps.

Nope. I like Stryper and actually spent a great night partying with Michael and Oz back in the day. GREAT GUYS!
IMO the performance was truly terrible. I've heard other YouTube clips from the BD Tribute Concert that were much better. I'm not putting down MS w/ Boston, just the performance – which was awful IMO. Don't take so "f'n" personally. :D

Yeah, I would've thought there'd be more A-listers there but maybe next time. It was nice to see a lot of acts that don't get much play here in the states anymore get an opportunity to shine with a national TV audience again.

Agreed. Sweet's vibrato does not work with the Boston sound at all.
