You know you've got some John. Big Dig. Logan. Two huge messes there.
I'm pretty sure that I don't put any of these lists together, my friend! Boston is a whole lot of things, but filthy and polluted it is NOT! It's a world class city that draws endless tourists, so keeping the city clean is a priority. You'll NEVER hear me defend the debacle that was "The Big Dig". As for Logan...it's no better and no worse than any other major, international airport that I've been through, in my travels.
Now...back to the topic at hand...How the hell is it that all these midwest, "Heartland of America" cities are so polluted? As I said, Los Angeles trails only China in pollution, so that was no shock, but many of the other cities on the list surprised me. Where the heck is "Journey/Survivor" to defend his beloved "Mistake By The Lake"
John from Boston
The page is taking forever to load, so I haven't seen it.
I'm assuming that since you bring me up it must mention Cleveland?
When I saw the title of the thread and I saw that it was
YOU that posted this, I figured it must name Cleveland.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen these "official" lists that will name Cleveland in some bad way, only to have some other "official" list completely contradict the first one. I don't just say this about ones that name Cleveland, I say this about all of these lists, their a joke, their anything but accurate on a regular basis.
A few years ago some newspaper writer in Los Angeles wrote an article about pollution, he described something that was very polluted and he followed it up by saying "that's like breathing Cleveland." Funny thing is that "official" studies showed that Los Angeles air was literally something like 50 times more polluted than the air in Cleveland.
Also a few years ago some bottled water company was saying on their labels that their water is pure because "it's not bottled in Cleveland." So the news ran tests at a lab and found out that across the board Cleveland's tap water was far more clean and pure than that companies bottled water. In fact I have heard countless reports that say that Cleveland's tap water ranks as some of the cleanest tap water from any city in America. When the local news here contacted that bottled water company for their comments they said "it was only a joke, we weren't intending that to be taken seriously."
It just shows that if enough of these talentless hack late night talk show hosts keep making Cleveland jokes because they don't have the talent to come up with something new and original then people are going to be stupid enough to believe them even though there's nothing to back it up.
I've been in 42 of the 50 states in America, I've been in tons of the major cities, and I can tell you for a fact from first hand knowledge that there are many, many cities in America that are far more polluted than Cleveland.
And if Cleveland's air isn't among the very cleanest, you have to keep in mind that we are one of the main cities in America for steel and automobile production. With all of these steel mills and automobile plants it's to be expected that your gonna have some air pollution.
