MR being offline and inaccessible half the day has no doubt affect hundreds if not thousands of lives. What are cubicle residents like RedJoanne and RWF to do with NO MR? Lula freaked out and actually emailed me, stating the obvious; "I can't PM you." No shit.
You need to get a better provider/server.

LOL! Us cubicle residents were forced to go to "other" forums to pass the time.
Luckily the PM feature was readily available there.

Basically my upgrade of memory fixed one small problem, but the root cause still remains. The server is entirely overloaded and I need an upgrade the operating system, plus dal new hard drives and even more memory.
This coud cost me several hundred dollars, which at this point in time, I do not have. I am awaiting a further evaluation, but apologize for the boards and site being offline in the meantime.

Thanks folks
The problem is not the need for a new provider, I'm already a stand alone dedicated server, but after 5 or 6 years of constant abuse, the PC is wearing out and I'm getting it evalutaed now for what needs to be done to make it bullet proof.

The Lepp forum is fine.

If no one is using them, then they are not taking up bandwidth and server resources right???
Maybe I need to kill the Journey forum. That'll save me a few grand per year.

Andrew, I used to help admin a board that was phpBB. When we got slow, we found that if we asked people to delete the 1000's of their old PM's that they really don't need, it helped the board considerably. Don't know if that's the problem but if people have a long list of old PM's it might help if they sorted thru them and got rid of all but the essential ones. (meaning 99% of them) I know it couldn't hurt.
I just deleted my entire PM "inbox" and almost all of my "savebox." Hope it helps. Andrew should "sticky" this idea and see if it works.

Wanna make more room and gain some speed? Why not reset Dean's post count and delete his 18K+ posts.... I bet you that will take care of half the problems .....

deleting forums wont do the trick...especially if those that inhabit those forums come here or other remaining forums. ie. all it does is redivert traffic that's causing the outages....
Andrew's right. It sounds like the while thing needs to be retooled.
