Herbie Goes Bananas?
I get a call from my friend at 12:15 CDT and he's laughing about how "some guy on the radio is railing Journey." He goes on to say that "Neal Schon's old manager" was saying how Augeri had been lipping "forever" and he didn't know why they ever hired the guy in the first place. He went on to say that if he ever sees Steve Perry again "it would be too soon." Sounds familiar, eh?
He also went on to say that he'd be willing to bet if the guys in the band saw Steve Perry and were able to get a hold of him that they'd probably beat the shit out of him.
While my friend could not confirm the name I think it's pretty obvious it was Herbie Herbert. This was broadcast at noon on The Loop...97.9 in Chicago. I'm trying to see if there's a "podcast" (whatever the fuck that is...my buddy said there might be one) because I HAVE to hear this for myself. I've said it before and I'll say these two things again: 1) Perry will never face these guys. How could he after all he's done? 2) Herbie is somehow still connected to Journey in some fashion...my guess is that he's a consultant. I think it's great that he's back in the fold (if in fact that is the case), and I think it's even greater that he's trying to persuade "Loondom" that there's a better chance of finding Steve Fosset alive than there is of Steve Perry ever singing live again.
PS They were "promoting" the show this summer with Heart and Cheap Trick when this happened.
