About a month ago, one of our patrol Jeeps at work was making a shitty sound under the hood and from underneath... They brought it in to the local Chrysler dealership where they bought it and had them check it out. There was something wrong inside the engine.. VERY wrong I might add, and since it was under warranty, it was cheaper for them to just install a NEW engine than to pull apart and rebuild the one that was in it...

So... They FINALLY got the new engine about 2 weeks ago and finally got it installed late last week.

This is where it gets funny

They took it out for a test drive... They got about 3-4 miles down the highway, and had to have it towed back to the shop again... It's now awaiting ANOTHER NEW ENGINE!

Aparently adding OIL wasn't on their "To-Do" list

this is not the first time ive heard of this.. it would stink!

I have also heard of Oil Change places forgetting the oil plug, or not tightening it. Many an engine has had to be replaced because of that...

OUCH!! That's costly.

Reminds me of Ron Whites story about Sears changing his tire. Something to the effect of. "Evidently the guys they trained to change the tire didn't show up in class on lug nut day."

yup, happened to my daughter last week. $9000 to replace the engine. towed back to the shop the next day. they forgot to attach a hose..

Many years ago, my girlfriend (at the time) had her car break down. The local towing company came and towed it to their shop and it ended up being her alternator that went out. They said they happen to have one they could install, so she decided since it was there, they could also fix it. Well.. she went and got the car the next day and the bill was $258!!!

For a fucking alternator?!?!?!?

Aparently, when changing the alternator, they "somehow" knocked out a frost plug and when test driving it, all the antifreeze went all over the engine compartment and they had to come tow it back and fix that too... They also charged her for a new frost plug as well as all new antifreeze. We argued about it and they wouldn't release the car until the bill was paid. So it was paid, the car was taken out of their shop and straight to the bank and cancelled the check. She then had her father, who's a bank manager, call them and explained to them why the check was cancelled and they expected the bill to be REWRITTEN with only the alternator and installation, ot they were going to court for fraud. The bill miraculously dropped down to $125

I hate having our cars fixed..because something else..that was wrong before or broken..seems to be after they 'fix' the original problem.

My dealer guy even joked about the guy who 'was' going to work on my car..he asked this other guy if the guy who was going to work on our car had his drug test done yet that day..

Even getting the slightest things fixed turned into larger trouble and this was a major dealership who also works on all the local cop cars..no wonder the cops can't catch anyone around here..

All the things were small things..car was in great shape and still pretty new..example..just to fix a loose knob to turn on the headlights..apparantly the whole dash had to be torn out..and the whole radio face in the process got scratched up..granted..they replaced that too..but it's just the time to deal with all of it and what else will they botch up while fixing what they messed up while fixing the original thing..

Luckily the guy who sold us the car was very cool and anal and he made sure everything eventually got done right. He was a car freak and noticed some things that we didn't that he had them fix too.
