There's a parallel between Dokken CDs coming and people cumming.

weatherman90 ain't here right now to share, but I'm sure he erupted like Mt. St. Helen when he got his disc.

A case or two of Dokken CDs has the same effect on people that making love to ProgRocker53 does. Just warning you. 8)

Loverboy's new album is really REALLY good. I can't believe it ain't outselling REO. God, that band is terrible, or Cronin is. Awful voice.

There is no reliable number for the Journey CDs...if you want to count the 'free' ones...

I specifically asked CJ about this and she said they never kept track of how many were given away.

I can't see the cash register sales being anything over 17 units.

True, once they changed the rules so that units sold as part of concert ticket price, like Prince did, the who sales number for Generations got skewed.

Debuted reatail at I THINK 190 on Billboard that October.

It's like Billy Joel's comment on his Mellencamp R&RHOF intro. "Nobody's buying records anymore".

Yep, it's a shame, pissed me off.

Platinum is like the new triple or quadruple platinum.

Speaks to our Type A, A.D.D., impatient, instant gratification, sense of entitlement as a culture now.

Boo, bitch, and flock to the beerlines at concerts at the first NOTE of something non-greatest hits, and buy single songs online instead of albums.

I'm not like that, thankfully. I'd wager MOST of us here at MR aren't either.

I'm not against not having to buy a whole CD for a single good track but I do miss the album experience. Most great albums had that continuity. Escape, Hi Infidelity, anything by Boston, etc.

But it is a shame that there's little reward for real artists to pursue the music biz. People like Tom Petty, Billy Joel, and Sting. Would they make the effort to do what they did in today's market? Doubt it.

I don't think Journey would if they didn't have an established fan base.

Would be quite a bit more than that, Generations was only given away at concerts in the US, everyone else who has it bought it (or downloaded for FA).

Personally I paid £17 for it, as it wasn't given a general release over here, and the copy I have is an American import that I bought in HMV (big CD retailer over here). £17 translates to about $30, so you'll all be saying how bad a deal I got

Didn't we used to buy singles all the time? Granted, you got two songs, but it's not that different now. The bands I'm "into" I have the entire catalog (JSS, Journey, Three Dog Night, Queen, Talisman). But sometimes I only like a single song - like Nelly Furtado's "Say it Right" - I'd have purchased that as a 45, and I purchased the single song. I didn't want her entire album.

If a song/voice hits me big time, I'll get the whole album, like I did with "Stranger in This Town" by Richie Sambora. Before "Ballad of Youth" I wouldn't have known who the hell he was.
